Milestones
• The ESA Commitment evaluation has been completed. A draft copy for the full report and the executive summary was submitted to SADC in preparation for the Ministers of Education meeting
• The report is now with designer and will be shared as part of the asset folder that will go to countries.
• At this stage, the report should inform priority setting for the next ESA Commitment.
• We also have a PPT presentation that summarises the findings.

Consultations 5
Milestones• Consultations need to be on-going especially national consultations, and should include all key constituencies
• Some countries have feel they have already consulted on the process• CSOs and young people are encouraged to organise consultations to
make sure all voices are heard. • SAfAIDS has been commissioned to mobilise CSOs and consult with
various constituencies in SADC (religious, traditional, teacher unions, parliamentarians etc)
• CSOs will develop a declaration from their consultations and bring to the regional consultation
• The regional consultation is being planned for September 28-30• A concept note has been drafted.

• The TCG agreed to start from the old commitment, and add emerging themes from consultations and evaluation
• A drafting committee will be constituted, including TCG members, government, CSOs and young people
• The draft will be shared with Member States by RECs• Stakeholders will be coming to the regional consultation
having already engaged with the draft.
Endorsement

Milestones• The Commitment will be endorsed at the ICASA 2021 conference• ICASA has given us 2 sessions, one high-level (Ministerial
endorsement) and a technical session• The sessions will mostly be virtual due to Covid-related challenges• After the endorsement by the two lead ministries, we will support
the lead ministries to popularise the commitment with other ministries such Gender, Youth, Sport, etc
• A reporting mechanism within the RECs will be necessary to ensure accountability in the implementation
