OPENING SCENE

FADE IN FROM BLACK

MUSIC BEGINS

Extreme close-up of a couple in wedding clothing.

Zoom out slowly to reveal a wedding photo in a picture frame. This carries on to show a shelve littered with odd objects and trinkets. Light fr

line of light which highlights certain areas of the dark cabin.

Metal/glass reflects highlights from the light.

A series of shots around the interior of the cabin showing the extensive collection which has been amassed.

PAN- A bright light shines from the window which is brought into view. Dust speckles around the light like flies

A figure of man is seen outside out on deck.

CLOSE UPS- Features are shown on the mans body such as his clothing, beard and him preparing his fishing gear. Displaying his features exp

describes him in his appearance. He is the OLD MAN.

In the shadows lies a dog which looks on as the OLD MAN begins to stand up.

The OLD MAN throws out the line to sea and gently stumbles back into his seat. He leans over to the dog and gives him a good stroke and pat

leans back into his chair and closes his eyes.

ZOOM OUT- The boat is seen in the distant, lonely in the vast ocean it sits in.

SCENE 2

The sun is fully emerged and hangs high above the boat. The sky is a hazy blur with only a couple clouds in the distant. The OLD MAN is seen

resting in the shadow.

PAN- The OLD MANs fishing rod is resting on the side of the boat with the line dangling off the side. The line sits restless on the surface with

soon begins to shake slightly and then begins to tug harder.

The DOG lifts his head and looks out to the edge and then back at the OLD MAN

The OLD MAN does not notice at first, but opens his eyes slowly to notice the line reeling.

He quickly grasps the rod and begins to reel in the catch. The DOG leaps towards the edge with excitement and looks down into the water. T

surface as he reels the catch in.

CLOSE UP- The fishing line rises from the water. Dangling from the tip of the hook is a gold ring which shines when in contact of the sun.

The ring is surrounded by a green like blue aura.

The OLD MAN holds the ring in front of him and begins to examine it. All of a sudden the ring shakes and the aura spirals around him and flow

Two transparent figures appear facing each other. The OLD MAN and DOG look on. The couple both hold hands and kiss.

Flowers fall all around them. The two figures soon get noticed as the OLD MAN and his wife when they got married.

The couple then look at the OLD MAN and smile. They then disintegrate back into the aura and flow back into the ring. The OLD MAN looks d

to fade.

He is seen placing the ring on the shelve next to the picture frame. He Steps back and smiles.

LONG PAUSE, CLOSE UP- The ring

SCENE 3

LONG SHOT- The sun is seen half over the horizon, slowly sucking in the light from the sky. Colours get colder and begin to fade to black. The

FAINT COOKING NOISE

The OLD MAN is seen cooking fish in a pan beside the cabin. The oil from the pan spits and flares as he flips the fish. The dog sits patiently be

The OLD MAN moans in pain, and then notices a red glow coming from behind him. He rolls over to see.

A rusty old helmet with scratches and fragment holes is seen lying on the deck facing down. Through its holes and gaps, a red glow seeps thr

The OLD MAN stumbles back onto his feet and cautiously walks towards the helmet.

The DOG watches on worryingly.

He takes a deep breath and reaches his arm out to the helmet.

He slowly flips the helmet

The dog runs away whilst he does this and peaks his head round the corner of the cabin.

QUICK SHOT- Under the helmet, a human skull is revealed with the glow coming from all the exit points of the skull.

Upon revealing the skull a series of flashing images appear in the OLD MANS mind. The skull implodes and then explodes in a shockwave wh

SCENE 4

Darkness engulfs everything. The moon is non-excitant. Only a dim red glow coming from the broken fragment left on deck illuminate a very

The OLD MAN awakens to see the dog licking his hand. He leans up in confusion whilst rubbing his head. Placing one hand on the deck, he s

All of a sudden, a deep bass of sound becomes hear able in the distant. The OLD MAN walks slowly to the edge of the boat were the directio

SCENE 5

The OLD MAN cautiously looks over the edge of the boat to see if anything is there.

The OLD MAN looks down at the DOG and smiles.

Suddenly the DOGs ears lift up

At first the OLD MAN is confused but then starts to hear a faint splashing noise. He picks himself up and looks for the direction of the sound.

The splashing becomes louder and louder.

The OLD MAN pin points the sound direction and looks out at the darkness. The Dog hops onto a nearby box and stares out as well.

A shadowy figure becomes noticeable at the edge of lit area. The figure becomes more noticeable as a man. He walks slowly on the surface o

Drawing ever closer, more splashes are heard. From every direction men, women and children begin to emerge from the darkness and surro

to be seen.

The sound of splashing ceases.

A brief amount of silence surrounds the boat as all the faces of the people stare into the OLD MANs face.

The chilling sight makes the OLD MAN uneasy as he looks all around him. He soon recognises one of the faces in the crowd. A women is seen

The OLD MAN leans over the side of the boat and reaches out his hand. The wife raises her hand slowly to meet him.

The hands are seen just a foot apart from each other, slowly getting closer.

Suddenly the wife's hand begins to melt and the OLD MAN looks at the wife to see her face is also melting. He quickly pulls his hand back as t

The crowd has all but gone except of a gold ring which floats on the surface of water. The old man gets his fishing rod to scoop it up.

Without warning the water begins to move as if it was alive. Oily hands rise from the water and reach up to the edge of the boat.

The OLD MAN jolts back from the sight and looks on in horror as these figures begin to start their slow climb onto the boat.

The sounds of war come back and screams echo around him.

The OLD MAN runs into his cabin in fright and notices his reflection in his broken mirror. He sees a dark and murderous soldier carrying a

himself. He looks down to see the gun itself in his hand and blood covering the gun. He throws the gun down and trys to rub off the bloo

Without warning the boat is engulfed by the darkness leaving only darkness.

The morning sky lights up the surroundings. Bubbles are seen rising from the water.

The boat resurfaces up from the depths,

The DOG is seen lonely on the boat looking for the OLD MAN.

He spots the OLD MAN fishing rod and walks towards it.

He then wines as he sniffs the rod.

The Dog sits lonely looking down at the rod.

It seems that the Old Man has lived a long and fulfilling life however this is not entirely true.

His occupation in the Portuguese-Angolan War caused the old man to sustain

serious psychological damage to his mind in which intense treatment was given

after the war. As a result, the Old Man cannot fully remember the horrific events.

Whilst working as a fisherman the Old Man caught an unusual object, which upon

touching released a memory from his past. Since that day he has retired to the sea,in search of specific objects that help put together his broken mind.

Nearing the final years of his life, the Old Man has gathered many memory's

with his faithful canine companion. Throughout his search for these memories he so far only

discovered good ones however the dark ones lay waiting beneath the sea of his mind.

Throughout Escuridao Decente the Old Man comes across his first dark memory.

The Old mans dog is his faithful companion who in dog years is as old as the Old

Man. The relationship between the Old man and the Dog is a strong bond of friendship.

Looking after each other is second nature to both characters. The dog acts as a spectator

of the story and portrays the audience as if they were there watching the events
