ESOL New Frontiers 16-19 Programme 2012/13

English for Speakers of Other Languages

A lively and stimulating full-time programme for 16-19 year olds wishing to progress on to courses in further and higher education or employment.

ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) courses develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English.

Prepare for nationally accredited ESOL City & Guilds assessments (Pre-Entry, Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1).

Mathematics courses develop the vocabulary of mathematics and problem-solving skills.

Prepare for all levels of functional skills mathematics.

Personal and social development courses build confidence in communication and independent living skills.

Prepare for nationally accredited ASDAN Awards, Certificates or Diplomas in Life Skills (Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3). Subjects include

personal safety, managing money, environmental awareness, community action and using technology.

Employability courses teach skills around application forms, CVs and interview techniques. They build-up awareness of health and safety and customer service in the workplace, and offer the possibility of work-placement experience.

Prepare for nationally accredited ASDAN Awards or Certificates in Employability and British Safety Council Awards in Workplace Health and Safety.

Plus ...• One-to-one tutorials – personal tutors to support the individual

needs of each student.• Embedded ICT – students are encouraged to develop

their IT skills in all subject areas.

Enrichment activities include sport, community activities, local trips, volunteering projects, cooking, arts, crafts and meeting visiting speakers.
