    1/1

For as long as I can remember Ive known what I wanted to do with my life. Science has

always been a passion of mine, and medicine in particular has interested me for some time.

Dedicating my life to improving the lives of others is very appealing to me. After graduated

from MARA Junior Science College Johor Bahru in 2013, I plan on advancing to medical

school to become a Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I believe this program will offer me valuable

skills that cannot be taught in the classroom.

I am applying for the MARA Scholarships. Presently I am a student of MARA Junior Science

College. I believe that my chosen profession will enable me to fulfill my desire to help others,

to expand my knowledge base, and to travel.Throughout my life I have participated in

extracurricular activities, including valuable volunteer experiences. I have striven for

academic excellence, always wishing to make the most of my education. In addition, I have

managed to work to provide some of my basic educational expenses.

Education has always been an important aspect of my life. While in high school I took

challenging courses, such as advanced placement English and calculus, physics, biology and

chemistry. I enjoyed the arts and was involved in art, band, and choir. Despite the time

consuming practices for concerts, parades, musicals and exhibits, I was able to maintain anexcellent GPA, allowing me to graduate with honors. I decided to study abroad and come to

the university in Finland because I believe that studying the differences between the

Malaysian health care system and that of the Finland would benefit me a great deal in the

future. It would be a valuable opportunity for me to shadow a Malaysian doctor, and compare

that experience to the medical exposure Ive had in the Finland. By participating in this

program I hope to eventually combine the best of both worlds into my medical education and

eventual practice. I plan to learn valuable skills that will one day make me a better doctor.

Although education plays a significant role in my life, I am involved with many other

activities. During high school I was an active member of several clubs, and served as prefect

and secretry. I frequently tutored middle school students by offering my time before and after

school. I enjoy the arts and participated in many performances, often involving travel to other

parts of the country in Malaysia. I also was a member of the an association of Kebudayaan

and Gamelan. This demanded extra time and effort especially before the concerts during

which our director held extra practices at night and on the weekends.

In addition to school related activities, I am involved with my usrah as a naqibah. I teach a

group of 8 students reading Al-Quran. Even the event is arranged by the school as the

requirement for the graduate, but I feel that it is one of my responsible to teach them, I feel

that by doing this activities I am setting a positive example for my friends.

All of these experiences have helped to shape me. I have faced many challenges, balancing

work and school, and I have willingly given my time. My goal is to become a

Obstetrics and Gynaecology so that I can perform tasks that clients cannot do for themselves.

I enjoy listening, working with others, and acting as a patient advocate and educator. I know

that when my goals are realized, I will be able to provide something meaningful to all of the

    patients
