Day 1: Arrive in Siem Reap

Upon your arrival in Siem Reap, you will bewelcomed by your local English speaking guide andtransferred to your hotel for check in.

This afternoon, depart on a very special sightseeingtour of the famous Angkor Wat. Built during thereign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12thcentury, Angkor Wat is constructed following themodel of the temple mountain symbolizing MountMeru, the home of the gods. Return to your hotelafter Angkor Sunset.Meals include: None

Day 2: Siem Reap

Start your day with a tour to the temples of theSmall Circuit. The most famous among these is TaProhm temple, a temple with a massive skein officus and silk tree roots wrapped around it (andcinematic fame as the setting for a scene in whichAngelina Jolie battles statues in “Lara Croft: TombRaider.”)

Later today, visit the ancient city of Angkor Thom,the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under thereign of Jayavarman VII. From here, continue toBayon Temple in the exact center of the city. This12th century masterpiece is a study in grandeur

and is well-known for its 54 towers with enigmaticfaces representing the 54 provinces of the Great KhmerEmpire. The Terrace of the Elephants and the Terraceof the Leper King are also must-visits as they are bothknown for their intricate bas-reliefs. Return to yourhotel in the afternoon.

Day 3: Tonle Sap – Departure

This morning, you will embark on an interesting boattrip on the Tonlé Sap Lake, where you will have theopportunity to learn about life on the lake. Tonle Sap isSouth East Asia’s largest freshwater lake with its sizevarying greatly depending on the season, as it isswelling to about four times its size during the wetseason. Board a local boat and visit Kampong Phluck, avillage where you will see houses on stilts that aresubmerged when Tonlé Sap Lake extends. On the way,you will pass floating houses and impressive floodedforests, portraying life on the water.

(Note: Due to low water levels during the dry season, the boat trip is only possible from June to March. However an alternative floating village at Chong Kneascan be arranged instead).

Climate: Dry from November – May and

monsoon June - October through rain comes in short

bursts. Temperatures are fairly steady at 28-35˚ C.

Mobile Phones: 3G and SIM cards are widely available

and an inexpensive way to make local and international

calls. Note high charges may apply if using roaming

services.

Clothing & What to Pack: Comfortable, casual lightweight clothing in natural fabrics such as cotton is suitable for travelling in Cambodia. Dress modestly and don’t wear shorts, mini skirts or tank tops when visiting religious buildings, and shoes should be removed before entering a private home.

Cuisine: Unique blend of sweet, sour, salty and bitter flavored dishes that are mildly spicy and usually shared family style. Fish and rice are the staple food. Try the Fish Amok, the curry textured national dish and our Cambodian favorite!

Health: Travelers should be inoculated against typhoid, cholera, hepatitis A & B, tetanus and polio. Malaria and Dengue Fever are present in Cambodia and it is advisable to take precautions. It is essential to have a good medical insurance that covers the cost of an evacuation flight

Safety: Cambodia is a safe country to visit though neverleave your belongings unattended.

Tipping: Not expected but always appreciated, and it’scustomary to tip tour guides and drivers.

Water: Do not drink the water. Bottled water is freely available. Make sure the bottle is properly sealed on purchase.

Visa: Most visitors to Cambodia can obtain a visa onarrival at international airports and most bordercheck points, valid for 30 days or with a visaissued at Cambodian embassies.

Your passport must be valid for 6 months and1 passport photos is required. E-Visas areavailable.
