More than just another level measurement company ….

Monitoring and controlling grain temperature in a storage system is a key factor in optimizing grain quality. Grain in storage can suffer from the harmful effects of mold growth, disease and pest infestation, the result of which is degradation of grain quality and value. If these conditions occur, the temperature within the grain at storage at those points will increase. If precise temperature measurement within the grain storage bins is made on a continuous basis, then grain conditioning systems can be efficiently employed to eradicate the source of the problems. The EST grain temperature monitoring system can accomplish this grain temperature measurement and can also measure grain levels within the bins, thereby not only instantly tracking and recording grain conditions but also providing inventory measurement information for a complete grain storage monitoring system.

EST sensing cables utilize 1-wire digital temperature sensors which, combined with the Aplus Finetek HubLink data transmission hardware, simplifies and lowers the cost of installation by using RS485 MODBUS digital communication for transmitting information back to your control room or office where you can be viewing all information from the MMS-TLA materials management software. Grain temperature and level measurements from a virtually unlimited number of bins is thereby readily available to assist you in managing your grain quality and value.

The EST110 is a multipoint temperature sensing cable that can measure the temperature of grain at different points along its cable in realtime, allowing you to monitor grain condition to ensure optimal grain quality and value. The EST110 uses 1-wire digital sensors. These sensors are accurate, fast and allow for a simpler and significantly lower installation cost than traditional thermocouple cables.

EST110 cables connect to a 1-wire HubLink data transmitter that typically is located near the bin or silo where the cables are installed. The connection between each EST110 and HubLink is accomplished using only a single cable with just one pair of wires, even though up to 30 temperature sensors may exist within each EST110 cable. The HubLink transmits the temperature measurement data to your monitoring system, the Aplus Finetek MMS-TLA software or the Aplus Finetek RCU2 wall mounted control and display unit using RS485 (MODBUS) serial communications.

Introduction

The EST120 combine the multipoint temperature sensing of the EST110 cable with continuous level measurement. A single entry point into the bin or silo can now provide both grain inventory (level) and temperature monitoring. The EST120 uses the same 1-wire digital sensors as the EST110 temperature monitoring cable, which are accurate, fast and allow for a vastly simpler and lower cost installation than traditional thermocouple cables. The EST120 cables also provide grain level measurement using reliable continuous capacitance technology. EST120 units feature a direct RS485 (MODBUS) serial digital communication link to transmit measured data directly to your control room. The EST120 temperature/level sensing cables simplify installation, saving time and reducing installation costs.

Introduction

The MMS-TLA is a grain monitoring materials management software package for PC’s that can replace your current manual record keeping of both grain temperatures and grain level within your storage bins and silos. The MMS-TLA software is designed to interface to the EST110 and EST120 grain monitoring cables through the use of RS485 (MODBUS) digital communications. The MMS can be applied in a wide range of industries such as rice milling, flour production, feed milling, food production and in a range of grain processing facilities. MMS-TLA software monitors grain temperature changes within each silo in realtime to detect abnormal temperatures and prevent grain degradation and spoilage. The software can also be used to improve the management of grain inventory to increase profitability.

From the Home Page the operator can view the graphic depiction of up to four (4) silos and their Information including: Silo Number and Name, Sensing Cable Locations (indicated by a circle; maximum nineteen sensing cables per silo), Material % Full and Weight, High/Low Temperature, Access to Current Temperatures Graphs and Information, etc.

Historical measurement information can be viewed, exported and printed for further review and analysis. The History Table can be established by entering the start and ending times for the historical query along with the silo number.

Setting up each sensing cable in a given silo is easy. Press the “Setting” menu button to access the Device Setting area. At this menu each sensing cable can be setup, including the setting of the Cable Type, Silo Number and Name, MODBUS ID, COM Port, High/Low Temperature and Level Alarms and Timeout period, etc. The table at the top of this page display, to the right of the silo graphic, will show the setup parameters for each sensing cable in the silo along with their location number.

Temperature and level measurement alarms can be set for each sensing cable and silo. This setup, refer to Device Parameter Setup, allows for visual Home Page display, as well as remote alarm notification. Remote alarm notification is sent by email. Entering the Alarm Setup section is done by pressing the Alarm menu button in the software. Setup of the remote alarm notification includes entering the email addresses to send alarm notification to, and setting the email server designation and the time interval for sending notifications of any alarms that exist.

Pressing the “Setting” menu button allows the operator to access the Silo Setting area. You can select the Silo Type, Silo Dimensions, Material Density, etc. for each silo.

Multiple users can be allowed to access the MMS-TLA software locally or remotely. Account Setup allows you to control the type of account each user has, which then sets the permissions for each user along with what they can do. There are two categories of users, Administrator and Operator. Administrators have full access and can setup permissions in Account Setup, while Operator accounts are limited in what they can do, being primarily limited to viewing information and historical data.

The HubLink 1-Wire is a data transmitter for use with EST110 grain temperature monitoring cables, which use 1-wire digital

temperature sensors. Up to four (4) EST110 cables can be connected to a single HubLink 1-Wire data transmitter. Each cable

connects to the HubLink using only a single pair of wires, vastly simplifying and reducing the cost of overall installation. This is a

key feature of the EST grain temperature monitoring system. The HubLink 1-Wire data transmitter converts all 1-wire

temperature sensing data to an RS485 MODBUS serial link for all EST cables connected to the HubLink, further reducing

overall installation cost, improving overall system reliability and simplifying connection to the remotely located graphical

interface software, the MMS-TLA.

RCU2 Remote Control Unit

The RCU2 is a remote control unit designed for the small and medium EST grain

temperature and level monitoring system where a central PC system is not available or

wanted. The total number of sensing cables that can interface with the RCU2 is four (4), of
