Goldsmiths 1855 Landed Estates Court rental and particulars of sale of the Manor of Goldsmiths under the Encumbered Estates Act of 1749. This rental gives details of tenants' names in each townland, the size of each holding, the rent paid and the tenure under which tenants held their land. Many of them had three lives leases and the full names and age of each life at the time of the sale are given. The estate was divided into an eastern and a western division. The details of the western division have been reproduced in 'In the Shadow of the Tail of the Fox: A History of New Buildings & District' [published by the Newbuildings and District Archaeological and Historical Society, 2002].

Salters 1743 Lease of the Magherafelt Estate.Note that the estate which had been leased by Ralph Whistler in 1627 had [by c.1740] passed by to the Webster family through Lady Webster, a relative of Gabriel Whistler - see T3483/4. The Websters were joined by Rawlinson. Sir Robert Bateson bought this lease from Webster and Rawlinson in 1744 and he later was granted a 99 year lease by the Salters' Comapany in 1754. Later Bateson was joined by the Marquess of Londonderry.
