So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
he created him; male and female he created them.
And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful
and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have
dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the
heavens and over every living thing that moves on the
earth.”
And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding
seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with
seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the
heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth,
everything that has the breath of life, I have given every
green plant for food.” And it was so.
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it
was very good. And there was evening and there was
morning, the sixth day.

The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done
this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts
of the field . . .
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between
your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.”
Genesis 3:14-15

And God said to Noah, . . .
“Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the
ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch . . .
. . . Make it with lower, second, and third decks.
For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to
destroy all flesh . . .”

“Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on
the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which
they eat it.
The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you
are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no
plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land
of Egypt.”
Exodus 12:7, 13

In the days when the judges ruled there was a famine in
the land, and a man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn
in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.
The name of the man was Elimelech and the name of his
wife Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon
and Chilion . . .
But Elimelech, the husband of Naomi, died, and she was left
with her two sons.
These took Moabite wives; the name of the one was Orpah
and the name of the other Ruth. They lived there about ten
years,
and both Mahlon and Chilion died, so that the woman was
left without her two sons and her husband.
So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabite her daughter-in-
law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. And
they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to
the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer
you in this matter.
If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us
from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of
your hand, O king.
But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve
your gods or worship the golden image that you have set
up.”
Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the
expression of his face was changed against Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated
seven times more than it was usually heated.

Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that
Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up
out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him,
because he had trusted in his God.
Then King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations, and
languages that dwell in all the earth: “Peace be multiplied
to you.
I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to
tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the
living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be
destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end.
He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in
heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the
power of the lions.”
Daniel 6:23, 25-27
