Goals: During the international in-service course for teachers:

1. Learning materials already developed for teacher trainees within the Comenius project named FACE-IT, will be disseminated.

2. Mixed group of teachers from several European countries transform these learning materials into teaching material that can be used by their pupils.

3. The materials developed by the course participants will be brought toghether as online teaching materials, including a teacher’s guide and bundled into an e-book, that will be plublished on-line

4. Course participants will learn how to work within a digital community ( Moodle) where they vcan upload the materials developed and share their experiences of usage

5. The most important meaning of this course is to enhance the mobility of teachers and to give the teachers tools to work with European Dimension in education in Europe.

By working toghether in mixed European groups, producing teaching materials toghether, the European Dimension in schools will be improved and international collaboration between schools will be promoted and stimulated. A spin-off effect of participating in this ETSize course might be the stablishment of a “European Teacher” network of universities and schools. Language of instruction : English Outcome: A group of 4 teachers will work internationally toghether and create international teaching material as well as teachers’ guide to be transformed in an e-book during the ETSize Conference in Bursa, Turkey, from 6-10 September, 2011-03-07 Preparation task: 1. Introduce yourself on www.facebook.com/european.teachers 2. Download the document: (attached pdf). Read the article and formulate your answer to the question “What is a European teacher”? Place it in the discussion forum in Facebook. Max. 10 lines 3. According the European Commission’s European Principles for teacher competences and qualifications “Teachers play a crucial role in supporting the learning experience of young people and adult learners. Their profession, which is inspired by values of inclusiveness and the need to nurture the potential of all learners, has a strong influence on society and plays a vital role in advancing human potential and shaping future generations”. Concerning the competencies of a European teacher: reflect on the professional situation in your country. Will you have enough asssistance in order to achieve these competencies? On a local, regional, national level? 4. Students should bring to the first meeting, some object, image, element… representative of their cultural heritage and to introduce it to the rest of participants.

Evaluation and certification At the end of the intensive course, teachers will present their teaching material (and teacher’s guide), produced to be tested out by their pupils (April-June 20112). After testing, they will get the feed back on the Moodle platform. The teachers participanting in the intensive course, will get a certificate of attendance.
