The project is implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme co-financed by the ERDF.

Based on “ET-Inventory” a trial learning platform - “ET-LearnTrain” (Transnational Tool) – was developed and implemented which offers online and on-site training for regional workforces in the ET-struct regions. This trial learning platform has two parts:

• a transnational core of online-learning/training modules for all the ET-struct regions in the project language English, that focuses on entrepreneurship in European booming sectors and

• regional blended-learning/training modules (online and on-site) in the national language of the regional project partner. These regional

learning/training modules are based on the regional demands for new-skills-for-new-jobs.

ET-struct will run until the end of 2012. As a first step the transnational project partner network carried out surveys in the 10 partner regions. These surveys were the basis for developing an ET-INVENTORY that defines what skills citizens will need to lead a successful vocational life and be skilled for new jobs as well as being informed about the economic situations in their regions.

In a next step a test and evaluation phase of both parts will start.

The Management Handbook “ET-Academy” documents the development, the pedagogy, the methodology, the piloting and the proposed sustainability of the learning platform “ET-LearnTrain”.

As such, “ET-Academy” fulfills a two-fold purpose:

• It provides the current ET-struct project partners with all the information needed to develop and sustain “ET-LearnTrain” • It offers other regional stakeholders who are not involved in the ET-struct project the opportunity to develop a similar learning platform

to meet the needs of their own regional economic situations and the needs of their regional workforces (“added value”).

News from the project partner regions

Vienna, AustriaIn the last months the Viennese Project Team – The European Office of the Vienna Board of Education & The Vienna Business Agency – have worked intensively on the development of two training modules: a transnational and a regional module.

The Viennese transnational module focuses on “Entrepreneurship in the EU”. It provides an overview on business start ups and relevant legislations in the European Union. Moreover, it contains guidelines how to start up a business in another culture.

The Viennese regional training module addresses a very crucial topic: “Cultural Sensitive Communication in the Social and Health Sector”. It is of high importance, because one fifth of Austria’s population has a migrational background. The blended learning module aims at sensitizing students and trainees in the health sector so that they will be able to offer a better service and to improve their social and communicative competences.

Veneto - ItaliaSkills and entrepreneurship for young people’s employment The job placement of young people in a labour market that is experiencing the worst crisis in recent times was the core theme of a debate at the European Conference in the Veneto Region on 29 June in Venice organised by the ET-struct project.

The conference attended by representatives of public institutions, the education-al system and spokespeople from the business sector, promoted an open dia-logue and a discussion about a topic that is equally important at all levels.

The event also provided an important opportunity to illustrate the first concrete results, which have been produced by the transnational cooperation action, to a selected and qualified audience. During the conference, the ET-struct project team of Veneto (the Veneto Region and Enaip Veneto) presented their own trans-national e-learning module on the theme of “Renewable Sources of Energy” par-ticularly aimed at young people. The specific training module, developed by the Veneto partners, fits into the wider e-learning course titled “Entrepreneurship in Booming Sectors in Central Europe”.

At present, the partners of the Veneto Region are strongly involved in the comple-tion of an other training module, which includes blended learning methodology (partly on-line and partly in presence). The module is called the “Valorisation of agro-food local products in Veneto” and is aimed at a regional audience. The module is in Italian and will be soon available on the ET-LearnTrain platform.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, GermanyeLearning for vocational orientation at schoolsWithin the developing of the transnational eLearning platform Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was responsible for the sub-module “Tourism” as one of the booming sectors in CENTRAL EUROPE.

Furthermore every partner region had the opportunity to create an own regional blended-learning/training module in the national language. These regional learning/training modules are based on the regional demands for new-skills-for-new-jobs.Due to the current demographic development in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that has serious effects on the vocational training and employment market the regional eLearning platform will be part of the vocational and studies orientation. By means of online and onsite chapters the pupils will gain necessary competencies, get information, ideas, thought-provoking impulses and motivation for their own investigation. They will actively deal with the possibilities of vocational training or studies, given in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Next to software engineers the pupils were instrumental in developing the eLearning platform – “from pupils for pupils”. In a next step pupils and teachers will be involved in test and evaluation in the region of Neubrandenburg to optimize this platform so that it can be adapted for pupils in other regions of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, too.

The results will help the partners to reassess the effect of their work during the project lifetime. Project Partner 9, as well as all the partners, prepared a regional module. The module focuses on social skills. The results of regional surveys carried out in Lower Silesia (Poland) shows, that social environments are becoming much more diverse and complex, they require interpersonal contacts. The course leads participants through professions in accident and emergency services. A further four professions are included within dentistry.
