2014 ETBU Statistics UT-Tyler 4, ETBU 0TYLER, Texas—Seeking their first win in conference play, the East Texas Baptist University women’s soccer team took the field against #25 the Univer-sity of Texas-Tyler, who came into the night undefeated in conference play, and fell 4-0. ETBU is now 4-4-1 on the year.

Texas-Tyler took advantage of ETBU’s slow start from the beginning scoring three goals in the first half. They scored goals in the 24th, 32nd, and 42nd minutes. Christina Salas had five saves in the half.

The second half slowed down a bit as ETBU slowed down Texas-Tyler but couldn’t find the net themselves. Texas-Tyler picked up their final goal with six seconds left in the match.

For the game, Texas-Tyler took 31 shots as ETBU had five shots. Natalie Tor-res led ETBU in shots with two. Kendall Harris and Shannon Jones recorded the two shots on goal in the game for ETBU. Salas made 10 saves,a season high.

ETBU 1, LeTourneau 1LONGVIEW, Texas – After 110 minutes of play in a rivalry match East Texas Baptist University had to settle for a tie with LeTourneau University (5-5-2/2-2-1), 1-1, in double overtime in an American Southwest Conference women’s soccer match. Both ETBU and LeTourneau scored in the second half. ETBU is now 4-4-2 and 0-2-2 in the ASC.

Erin Miller netted ETBU’s only goal in the 61st minute on an assist from Shan-non Jones. Jones flicked in a pass to Miller within the six-yard line and found the back of the net slipping it by LeTourneau’s Brittany Hollis. The ETBU lead only lasted seven minutes when LeTourneau’s Riley Scarborough took it down the sideline and shot it past Christina Salas.

In the second half after each team scored, LeTourneau had a chance to take the lead when Scarborough found an opening in the defense but Salas snagged the shot in the 76th minute. In the 81st minute ETBU’s Kendall Harris had a look for the game winning goal but LeTourneau’s Hollis put her hands on the ball to stop the shot. Miller almost put ETBU back in front in the 85th minute when her shot was also saved by Hollis. Just before regulation ended, LeTourneau took one last shot on goal from Raylene Gould only to see Salas swat it out of the way to send it to overtime.

In the first overtime, Salas denied LeTourneau’s Angie Patino in the 99th minute to send it to a second overtime. ETBU took four cornerkicks in the second overtime but fell short of any game winning goals. Miller also had one final look for a goal in the 110th minute but Hollis stopped the shot to conserve the tie between the two teams.

ETBU took 20 shots to LeTourneau’s 15 and had 10 shots on goal. Salas finished with seven saves while LeTourneau’s Hollis produced 10 saves.
