Young Nation by Prof M. D. Sontakke

Our honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi always says in his speech that in 2020 India will become a Nation having maximum youngsters. I am very much positive about his prediction. I am proud of his positive approach. But if we think for a while, it is practically impossible. I have so many questions in my mind which disturb me many times when I think of current generation.

Let us classify youngsters into two categories and see what are the different problems they face today .First category is educated youngsters .They are Technology habitant. It is seen that everyone start their day with Whatsapp, facebook and Google; start their morning with mobile and end it with internet or TV. They use different electronic gadgets and so are becoming Technosavy instead of Technocrats .They are unable to survive even a single day without gadgets which leads to short temper and mental fatigue. In medical , there is no medicine

for mental fatigue . Youngsters’ life has become artificial. They have indeed lost face to face communication and so without these gadgets they feel lonely. Hence although the young generation is talented due to being technology habitant they are like machines. So “HOW ARE THEY USEFUL FOR OUR NATION?”

Second category is uneducated youngsters. Due to lack of education, money, poor family background they too get frustrated. They are habitual to chewing Gutkha, Tobacco etc. Although they know its bad effects on their health, they are not ready to leave. In India many people have suffered due to tobacco, cigarette and alcohol. Day by day our generation is tremendously affected by these things. So WHAT’S THE USE OF THESE YOUNSTERS FOR THE NATION? Although we are proud of our nation as Young Nation, half of the youngsters are affected by mental fatigue and rest half are physically disturbed. So my question is “HOW THESE YOUNSTERS WILL BUILD OUR NATION IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO BUILD THEMSELVES?’’

Is freedom so expensive (?) Few days back I came across a picture of dead body of a small kid lying on the sea shore. His name was Aylan Kurdi and he was from Syria........................................................... (page3)

He was working as an HR person in KPIT technologies, Pune and currently he is associated with Prudentia technologies, Pune . It was divided into two sessions, one for T.E and the other for B.E. At the very start he announced that he has come not to teach the students but instead learn something from them. The main areas of focus of Mr Nileshwar were teamwork, coordination, versatality, leadership

quality and how good communication skills can help you grow in the corporate world. He depicted these things by playing motivational videos. He then emphasized on the general procedure of campus recruitments and things to follow in order to crack them. He effectively conveyed his points by conducting a mock interview session with a help of a faculty member and a student where one played the role of an interviewer and the other an interviewee followed by the role reversal. The session was an interactive one and received a good feedback .

Is Freedom so expensive?

By Miss Shriya Sasne (BE)

Few days back I came across a picture of dead body of a small kid lying on the sea shore. His name was Aylan Kurdi and he was from Syria. Aylan along with his family was attempting to leave his country in search of a better and safe life. But on this way to a happier life the Mediterranean Sea galloped him and ended his journey forever.

Life in Syria has turned to be a misery. Due to conflict between ISI and the Syrian government people are forced to get locked in their own houses. The parents of Aylan wished to give their children a safe life. A life where their children would have freedom to go to school, to play on the streets and live a normal life just as other kids do. But their dreams were shattered and broken to pieces. Who should be held responsible for this? The government, the nature of the small kid who dared to dream of a better life…..

I believe, along with food, water and shelter, freedom is also a basic need of all human beings. Everyone has a right to live in a free environment and breathe in free air. When I thought of all these things I found myself privileged that I live in a free country. Our government, our society has maintained this freedom which our ancestors had given us with lots of sacrifices. We all should be proud of our country and salute it with due respect.

Yes my country is not the best. Yes it has lower GDP than many other countries. Yes it may be still considered as a developing country. But even with all these demerits my country has given me the most valuable gift which is FREEDOM. I am free to go to school, free to choose my occupation, free to wear what I like, free to marry the person of my choice, free to drive and many such things. Our constitution

considers men and women to be equal and every class to be on same level. Feel proud to be an Indian as our country has given a lot.

Use of I-Pad Pro by Disney Animators By Miss Neha Kashyap (SE)

Just a short while after the Pixar

development team got their hands on the I-pad Pro and praised the device’s palm rejection, Disney’s design team spent the day testing Apple’s latest tablet. Disney’s team of designers used the I-pad Pro to sketch a variety of different characters from Disney classics, including Olaf from Frozen and Mickey Mouse.

The testing went seemingly well for Disney.”Let’s order a bunch “, product manager Paul Hildebrandt said at the end of a Periscope stream showcasing the device. In a separate Periscope stream, Disney animators Jeff Ranjo and Jeremy Spears used the I-pad Pro to draw caricatures of each other .

Disney team of designers tested the I-pad Pro with illustration applications like Pro create and Fifty Three’s popular paper, both of which have already been optimized for the I-pad Pro and Apple pencil.

PIONEER 2k15 KIT is known for Pioneer since it is one of the most esteemed festivals of the institute. This year it underwent many transformations and additions which in turn made it a grand success.

Technomania

October 3&4, 2014

The tradition of tedious technical events was put to an end when ASSETS came up with a completely new concept. The idea was to combine technical skills with smart approach. The two sub contests organized under the main event ‘Technomania’ were RAMRAJYA and TECHNOGEEK. RAMRAJYA was designed to check the problem solving ability of the candidates with respect to four domains (social, political, environmental and management) which was categorized into three rounds, namely, find the solution, explanation and surprise round. The idea was so attractive that it encouraged masses from different streams to come forward and boost their analytical skills. Decoration committee successfully justified the theme of RAMRAJYA by making the department look a replica of AYODHYA. TECHNOGEEK, on the next day, started with the aptitude test followed by the electro hunt and circuit implementation. The enthusiasm of the participants and toil of the coordinators were the reasons why it turned to be a well executed one.

Pradarshini

October 3, 2015

This year was a debut of Pradarshini, a poster presentation competition where the participants had to prepare and explain their posters based on the pre specified technical domains. This was a tricky one and so unfortunately could not bring much of the crowd. However those few who took the chance had creative visualization and good painting skills.

Abhivyakti

October 4, 2015

A multidisciplinary paper presentation competition organized by ISTE expected authors from two different branches of engineering. As expected, many people enrolled thereby making it difficult for the experts to select the top 26. In addition to this, the authors were given a prestigious opportunity to get their research papers published in the KIT journal. Thus, this year Abhivyakti came up with new challenges for everyone involved in it.

Latest Trends in Embedded

July 30, 2015

Embedded Systems is one of the favourite domains of the engineering students when it comes to final year projects. Major project is most important from the academics, campus recruitments and career point of view. To give guidance regarding the same, Mr Chinmay Oak from Excel Technologies, Pune was invited to deliver a guest lecture. He began his session with the introduction to microprocessors, different families of microcontrollers and the decision of their selection based upon the type of application. He enlightened the students about the Embedded C language, its importance, necessity, relevance to C and why is it preferred to the assembly language. He also focused on the upcoming technologies in the field of Embedded Systems and Robotics and how Raspberry pie is playing a key role in this. At last he concluded the session by highlighting on the project externals. It was a good learning experience for all the students since it cleared the very basics which were required before anyone could start working on the project.

C_CPP Workshop September 29 ,30 ; October 7,2015

When MNCs visit college campuses, the only way out for the students to crack the technical aptitude exam and interviews is having efficient coding skills. Programming languages like C n C++ are the basic requirements of any industry and is must for all the candidates irrespective of their disciplinary. To fulfill these essentials, a Three –Days Workshop was organized in the department of ETC on C n C++ for the students of B.E., the aim of which was not to learn C theoretically but to understand the errors and get quick solutions to problem statements. Mr Sachin Karmuse working as an assistant professor in DKTE, chalkaranji, an expert in C, CPP, Java and Embedded C was invited as a guest lecturer.

He commenced with the basic syntaxes and gradually progressed with the common questions asked in technical rounds during recruitments. He gave various tricks, and told what kind of approach one must have while solving it. The workshop proved to be beneficial for all and was a sort of preparatory session for the upcoming companies expected to visit the college campus.

Parents’ Meet September 6,2015

In the ETC department, parents’ meet was held with the main motive of conveying the parents the progress of their respective wards. The meet began with introduction to all the faculty members as well the department .The parents were told the importance of industrial training, visits, internships and were asked to motivate their children and thoroughly get them prepared for the campus. The main stress was on KPIT technologies as the the institute has MOU with the organisation and also it hires a good number. In addition to this, the first three toppers of each class as well as the five core members of ASSETS were felicitated by their parents. The meet indeed was a great opportunity where parents ,faculty members and students came together and had a good interaction.

Teachers Day

September 5 ,2015

The pair of teachers and students could be said analogous to a transmitting and receiving antenna where the former transmits knowlegde whereas the later recieves, decodes and implements it.Teachers bestow their knowledge, blessings and work for the betterment of their students every single day and to reciprocate the same,we students turnred this day into a celebration where we could express our gratitude towards them. The program initiated with a welcome song and felicitation of the staff members followed by mono-act and poetry. Some of the students took the stage to thank their teachers and shared certain memories. The teachers too recalled their childhood memories as students , especially those related to the teachers they revered. This was concluded by refreshments and a video of an alumni which made us believe that even seniors can be good teachers .

OrCAD Workshop

August, 2015

To make the students familiar with OrCAD.-a proprietary software tool suite used for Electronic Design Automation (EDA), A Two Days Workshop was conducted jointly by ETC and ELX department. The main aspects of the workshop were installation of the software, PCB layout and PCB designing .The sections ‘layout’ and ‘designing’ were better explained with the help of few circuits. These included multivibrator using IC555 and power supply. Demonstration of a PCB of multiple layers was given a booklet on OrCAD was circulsted. This workshop received an average feeback because the resource person was unable to meet the time constraints and cope up with the syllabus, because of which many of the concepts were left uncovered.

HR MEET-II

October 11, 2015

Due to overwhelming response of the first HR meet , another such meet was planned for the students of B.E. and T.E.,both Electronics and ETC. The guest of honour for the session was Mrs Ekata Mehul Shah, Head, eiTRA (eInfochips Training and Research Academy). Mr. Atul Nigavekar introduced KIT and Mr. Jay Bagi introduced one-KIT to the chief guest. The session was then handed to Mrs Shah who introduced eiTRA to the audience. She elucidated the importance of electronics in the market by citing certain convincing examples .She then shifted her focus to the preparation for interviews where she urged the students to study the subjects which fall in the company’s domain, for which they needed to acquire information related to the company. She also described briefly the kind of approach one must have while developing a product by illustrating the example of a Smartphone. Before concluding, she insisted the audience to clear their queries if any. Overall the meet received a good response.
