• Moving to a nationwide adoption of E15 (fuel blended with 15 percent ethanol) would create demand for an additional 2 billion bushels of corn annually, which would provide a much-needed lift to rural America.

• Ethanol is less expensive than gasoline and saves drivers money at the pump every day. E15 is a higher-octane fuel that saves drivers up to $0.10 per gallon compared to regular gasoline.

In 2018, the ethanol industry created and supported nearly 366,000 jobs and contributed nearly $46 billion to the nation’s GDP.

• Higher octane levels in fuel allow engines to operate at higher pressures, enabling increased efficiency and power.

• Ethanol burns cooler and cleaner than gasoline, which enhances engine performance. And ethanol acts a solvent, which helps remove oil-based grime from engine surfaces and keeps engines cleaner.

• Higher ethanol blends like E15 deliver even more octane for less cost than standard 10 percent ethanol blends. Consumers have driven over 10 billion miles on E15 and that number continues to rise.

Ethanol is the best-available source of octane. It is the cleanest, most affordable high-octane fuel on the market.

According to energy experts, ethanol cuts greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 110 million metric tons per year

• Starch ethanol reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 39 percent compared to gasoline.

• Cutting-edge cellulosic ethanol technology is already in use today and is being further developed to larger scale. Cellulosic technologies can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 100 percent or more.

• The latest research from the University of California Riverside demonstrates that ethanol blends reduce toxic emissions by up to 50 percent, including smog and ultra-fine particulates.

FOSTERING ENERGY INDEPENDENCE

• Since the Renewable Fuel Standard was enacted in 2005, America’s net oil imports have dropped more than 70 percent. Switching to domestic energy sources has helped reduce our dependence on foreign oil, strengthening our national security and our economy.
