• Free, optional online tool for districts and open-enrollment charter schools
• Provides actionable data to help educators improve instruction
• Helps predict student performance on STAAR summative
• Not tied to accountability

Participation
• Districts and charter schools that choose to use the tool register students in the STAAR Assessment Management System.
• Permission or confirmation from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is not required.

• Two different administration opportunities available:
• Opportunity 1 and Opportunity 2
• Multiple attempts (reattempts per student) available within each opportunity

Changes for 2018–2019Assessment Windows
• TEA’s recommended testing windows are November for Opportunity 1 and February for Opportunity 2, but these are only recommendations.
• Districts and charter schools decide when to schedule either or both of these two testing opportunities.
• Opportunity 1 will be available starting on August 31.
• Opportunity 2 will be available later in the school year.
• Both opportunities will be available until March 29, 2019.

• Two methods via the STAAR Assessment Management System:
• Individually via User Interface
• File upload
• New Registration Upload File template
• Separate from Upload File template for STAAR summative testing
• Registration Windows:
• Opportunity 1: August 13, 2018 –March 29, 2019
• Opportunity 2: Later in the school year

• Download the template via Students > Upload and select Download Spreadsheet Template link

Grades 3–8 Testing
• TEST ASSESSMENT TYPE (Column BA)
• Add an “I” or “i” for interim testing
• READING TEST VERSION CODE and MATH TEST VERSION CODE fields (Columns BD and BE)
• Optionally add the below support codes per student
• Text-to-Speech – “t”
• Content and language supports – “r”
• Complete the remaining fields (Appendix A of the STAAR Interim Assessments User’s Guide)

• GRADE LEVEL CODE field (Column A)
• Enter a number, 3–8 (enrolled grade level)
• INTERIM TEST OFF GRADE – READING and INTERIM OFF GRADE – MATH (Columns BU and BV)
• Enter numbers 3–8 (testing level or levels)
• List multiple grade levels consecutively
• Example: 456
• READING TEST LANGUAGE and MATH TEST LANGUAGE (Columns BQ and BR)
• Enter “E” or “e” for English
• Enter “S” or “s” for Spanish
• Blank defaults to English 14

• TEST FORMAT – EOC field (Column AO)
• Enter “O” or “o” for online
• EOC TEST VERSION CODE field (Column AW)
• Optionally add the below support codes per student

• END-OF-COURSE CODE field (Column AI)
• Enter “A1,” “E1,” or “E2”
• Each record in the file corresponds to a specific subject test.

Notes for Grades 3–8 and EOC
• Registration via upload for grades 3–8 automatically registers on grade for mathematics (MA) and reading (RE).
• Delete subject registrations as needed via the user interface.
• Download Student Upload Files lists all subjects and grades regardless of actual settings.
• After registration, uploading a new file overwrites existing data.

• To view all registered students with all subjects and testing grade levels, download:
• Students Campus Report, District Student Home Campus Report, or District Student Test Campus Report
• File format is different than the Student Upload File for STAAR summative
• All transfer functionality from STAAR summative available for interim

Step 1: Create profile.
• Students > Register
• Enter 9-digit PEIMS ID AND 10-digit TSDS UID.
• Click Add Student.

Step 2: Add tests by selecting
• Subject
• Testing Grade
• Testing Group
• Language (English of Spanish)
• Personal Needs and Preferences (English tests only)
• Click SUBMIT button.

Registration – Off Grade Testing
• Students testing below or above their enrolled grade
• Student scores correspond to grade level tested
• Same scoring as on-grade testing
• Available for Opportunities 1 and 2
• Does not apply to EOC
• Students in grades 5–12 may be registered in any subject.
• Grades 3–8
• May be registered for any available testing grade
• Available in any combination of subject and grade level
• Separate test ticket issued for each individual subject/grade level test

Registration – Reattempts
• Allow for flexibility within a testing opportunity
• Up to 10 attempts per opportunity for each student
• Must be same subject, grade, and language
• Any change requires new registration

•After 10th attempt, an error displays.
• Attempt begins when reattempt button is clicked
• Reattempt available once primary attempt submitted

• Primary (first) attempt is “official” reported attempt
• Used in Online Reporting Suite (ORS) data
• Used in Interim Data File
• Reattempts only reported in Assessment Management System
• Student demographics used from primary attempt only
• Attempt results may not be deleted
