Feedbacks from demos
The effectiveness of live demos depends also on appealing and user-friendly interfaces
We are currently using the EDG/Genius web interface to demonstrate the DataGrid middleware at conferences and exhibitions
Reactions from booth visitors are always positive
EDG/GENIUS has been adopted as the official portal of the EDG Dissemination Testbed.

On line demo: The Grid for Dissemination
The online demonstrator is likely to have a significant impact on dissemination performance
An ad hoc initiative, called GriDis, has been started to produce the demonstrator
The effort required is more than originally planned and a new timeline of mid-March has been defined to deploy the dissemination testbed infrastructure

Why DATAMAT commitment?
DATAMAT is a middle-size player (1600 employees – 180 M€ revenues) in Italian ICT market with 30+ years experience in Italy and abroad
Traditional focus is on innovation: long record of international technological
research and development project;
dissemination and commercial exploitation of resulting advanced systems and services.
We joined DataGrid initiative in 2000, identifying GRID concept as one of the most promising novelties in ICT, in order to:
Acquire knowledge
Understand potential business return

Early results
DataGrid is a perfect training ground for us: Technical viewpoint:
SW Development -> Mastering technology and its evolution Participation to ATF -> overall architecture awareness
Business Development perspective Grid appears still in the early stages of the Gartner hype
cycle (are we approaching trough of disillusionment?)

DataGrid – CrossGrid I&RF
The Industry and Research Forum is an initiative undertaken in the framework of the dissemination plan of the European DataGrid and CrossGrid projects.
The I&R Forum is aimed at accelerating the adoption of the Grid technologies in eScience and eBusiness.
Why a common forum? …DataGrid and CrossGrid together represent
the great majority of the European Countries ..the two projects share a common middleware ..several people are working on both the projects
so gaining a common experience in the management of Grid computing testbed
.. CrossGrid extends the implementation of DataGrid middleware to new applications
…CrossGrid will develop and support the DataGrid results beyond DataGrid life-time
Next week in Santiago de Compostela…
