A critical feature of the clock is its synchronisation to the external conditions during the day. The difficulty of certain individuals to adapt the internal biological (or circadian) clock to their socio-professional activities generates fatigue and stress that could lead to increased level of mistakes and accidents, loss in productivity, as well as long and short term health risks. In EUCLOCK, researchers from 28 partnering organisations, among which six from Switzerland, investigate the circadian clock using the most advanced methods. Protocols, devices, and algorithms will be developed enabling, for the first time, large-scale research on human entrainment in the field.
