School Marathon On Saturday, October 5, we will be having our annual School Marathon. Last year, we encouraged families to attend Mass and pray the Rosary before the Marathon. There were some families that attended but it was just too early for most. Because of this, we are moving the Saturday morning Mass from 8 am to 9 am to make it possible for more people to attend. We will have children participating and, hopefully, more families at Mass. After Mass, we will be praying the Rosary on the front steps. The intention of our prayer is for our parish and community and for all of the prayer intentions that have been collected. Just as we know where we start and finish in the marathon, beginning with Mass and the Rosary helps remind us that we are a Catholic school, where we teach our children where we come from and where we are going. We also teach them how to get there and what we ought to be doing along the way. Everyone is welcome to come to the Mass at 9 am and join us for the Rosary afterwards.

Also please note, because I will be praying the Rosary after Mass, I will be hearing confessions from 7:30-8:30 am. Fall Fest In recent years, we have followed our Marathon with the Fall Fest. You may have noticed that you haven't heard anything about Fall Fest this year. This is because we have new and exciting things in the works! As you know, the first weekend of November has been our Eucharistic Days and we have celebrated our patronal feast day. Rather than split between two big Fall events, we are going to shift our energy and focus to really, truly celebrating the Eucharist and our patron saint, St. Charles Borromeo. More details will be coming soon. God Bless, Fr. Przybilla

Dear St. Charles Parishioners, This past week was a week of assessment at St. Charles. In the beginning of each year our students each take 2 or 3 tests to assess their core knowledge in Math, Reading and Language. This helps the teachers understand individual student and class ability levels. We were so glad to

have a week with mild temperatures while we went through fall NWEA MAP testing. Please keep our school Marathon fundraiser in your prayers and give us the opportunity to keep your intentions in our prayers. This year we are collecting prayer intentions as a component of our school Marathon. Please connect with one of our students to submit your prayer intentions this year.

Our 5th graders will be selling coffee and Wolf Ridge calendars once again to support their Wolf Ridge trip coming up during the first full week of November. We will have these items available for sale on Marathon Day. The Wolf Ridge calendars cost $17 and the coffee is $10 per bag. Please consider supporting a 5th grader on their path to Wolf Ridge. Wolf Ridge is located in Finland, Minnesota and they offer an extremely unique environmental learning experience for our students. God bless you, Danny Kieffer, St. Charles Principal

NOTE: 8 am Mass moved to 9 am this week for Marathon

Feast of Archangels September 29

O blessed Archangel Gabriel, we

beseech thee, do thou intercede for us at

the throne of divine mercy in our present

necessities, that as thou didst announce

to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation,

so through thy prayers and patronage in

heaven we may obtain the benefits of

the same, and sing the praise of God

forever in the land of the living. Amen.

O Raphael, lead us towards those we are waiting for, those who are waiting for us! Raphael, Angel of

Happy Meetings, lead us by the hand towards those we are looking for! May all our movements, all their

movements, be guided by your Light and transfigured by your Joy. Angel Guide of Tobias,

lay the request we now address to you at the feet of Him on whose unveiled Face you are privileged to

gaze. Lonely and tired, crushed by the separations and sorrows of earth, we feel the need of calling to

you and of pleading for the protection of your wings,

so that we may not be as strangers in the Province of Joy, all ignorant of the concerns of our country. Remember

the weak, you who are strong--you whose home lies beyond the region of thunder, in a land that is

always peaceful, always serene, and bright with the resplendent glory of God. Amen.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend

us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil;

May God rebuke him, we

humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of

God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil

spirits who wander through the world

for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Join the Knights THIS SUNDAY, September 29, for the Fifth Sunday Rosary at 9:30 am in the Church. We will be praying for an end to abortion and for the protection of all unborn children. Let’s join our voices together as we pray to the Blessed

Mother to intercede with Her Son to bring an end to this egregious sin against God and mankind.

Calling all Singers! Have you thought about being in the choir? Now's the time to join our ranks as we

explore our Catholic heritage of music through chant, polyphony, and other anthems for Holy Mass. Rehearsals

are on Wednesdays from 7 pm to 9 pm and we meet at 9:30 am before the 10 am Mass.

Priesthood Sunday TODAY! Priesthood Sunday is a special day set aside to honor priesthood in the United States. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church as a central one. This is a nationwide event coordinated and sponsored by the USA Council of Serra International and promoted by the Serra Club of North-Minneapolis to give each of us the opportunity to show gratitude to our shepherd. Please

remember Father Przybilla especially in your prayers to mark this day ~ a “Father’s Day for Priests!” Send a note of appreciation to a priest who witnessed your marriage or baptized your children or otherwise impacted your life, including our pastor. Say a special prayer for deceased priests. THIS Sunday, Serrans will be handing out a prayer bookmark and will have a basket for cards available in the atrium. The Serra Club of North-Minneapolis is an apostolate of lay men and women whose mission is to foster and affirm vocations to the ministerial priesthood and vowed religious life. Through the Serra Club, we collaborate with our bishops, parishes and vocation directors to fulfill this mission. As an apostolate, Serrans work to further their common Catholic faith and to grow in holiness. For more information, call or email MaryAnne Frank at 612-669-4221or [email protected]

NOTE: Capital Campaign statements will be about a week late this month, due to unforeseen

circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Brother Knights! The next Knights of Columbus fraternal meeting will take place this Wednesday,

October 2 in the St. John’s Education Center beginning at 6:30 pm. This is an opportunity for Brother Knights to get t know each other through prayer and socializing. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Let’s have a great turn out of Brother Knights as we continue to move forward through service, charity, and fraternity.

If you were traveling or at a different parish last weekend you may have missed our kick off for our parish mission and formation vision. We are focused on Jesus being the Way the Truth and the Life with this first year focused on meeting Him on the way while seeking healing of our whole person. One of the cultural impacts of this within our parish is to join

a small group. With dozens of leaders ready to host a small group to aide you in encountering our risen Lord, we are excited to invite you to sign up. There are forms and baskets on tables in the atrium as well as the rear of the Church. If

you have any questions please contact Jacob Nelson at 612-787-1181 or [email protected].
