Transport is on the brink of a new era of "smart mobility". In order to boost its efficiency at system-level, this focus area will support:

• targeted efforts to develop and validate new solutions that can be rapidly deployed, notably on corridors and in urban areas

• Research and innovation on equipment and systems for vehicles, aircraft and vessels

• Research and innovation on smart infrastructure solutions, based also on GNSS applications

Mobility for growth

Actions will support the EU Road Map to a Single European Transport Area, the EU approach to research and innovation for Europe's future mobility; the review of the Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution; and the EU Low Carbon Economy Roadmap.

Actions in this area will support the Europe 2020 Resource-efficient Europe Flagship, the Eco-innovation Action Plan, the Communication 'Innovating for sustainable growth: a bioeconomy for Europe', the Raw Material Initiativestrategy and the European Innovation Partnership on Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability.
