Why is it important to learn foreign languages?

Page 8: European day

Why should we learn foreign languages?

• It is necessary to find a work and have better opportunities and carrier prospects. You can also find a job abroad and live in another country.

• It is necessary for your preparation to enter a college or a University in Greece and to study abroad .

• Learning other people’s language is a way of helping us to understand other cultures and make new friends.

Page 9: European day

The benefits of learning foreign languages are also that

• You become smarter and in a better mental health. Children who have learned foreign languages at elementary level score higher on tests in maths, reading, and language arts.

• You can communicate with foreign people when you travel abroad. It would be easier to find places, ask for directions and order food and in this way you make your travel more enjoyable.
