Greetings!

I have been involved with Christmas programs in Central Europe since 1976, when I was first sent to Aus-

tria to manager a small ski resort near Innsbruck. My future roles included finding and setting up ski pro-

grams in Switzerland, Germany and France. I have been using my knowledge and expertise since those

early days to provide unforgettable Christmas and ski packages for American and now Australian guests —

in fact anyone who wants to experience a Christmas like never before.

Our focus is on providing a magical “White Christmas” experience. To do this—we have ensured the desti-

nations on offer are almost guaranteed to have snow under your feet during the Christmas period. There

are many travel companies offering “White Christmas” tours—but be careful of the destination they offer,

and the amount of time they spend over the Christmas period. Our independent packages spend a minimum

of 5 nights in the Christmas destination, whilst our escorted “Austrian White Christmas Tour” spends 6

nights in the idyllic village of Seefeld, in the Austrian Alps, and at an altitude of 1300m. This extended time

over the Christmas period allows you to absorb the festivities of the Christmas Markets, the local culture

and traditions and experience a Christmas like never before! And for those who have never skied before or

want to try it again, skiing is available in all the destinations we offer.

AUSTRIAN WHITE CHRISTMAS — Escorted Coach Tour 16 - 28 Dec, 2014

Optional “Pre-Tour” to help get over “jet lag” - 2 nights in Regensburg 14 Dec. Munich/Regensburg. Meet in the reception of Sheraton Airport Hotel ay 10.00am for transfer to Regensburg, about 1 hour’s drive north of Munich Airport. After check-in at the ACHAT Hotel am Dom, time to explore this beautiful historic tow, or maybe relax at the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure 15 Dec. Regensburg. This morning enjoy a guided tour of the castle of Thurn and Taxis — an historic landmark in the town. There’s a beautiful Medieval Christmas Market in the grounds of the castle, or you can return to the town centre to visit the traditional Christmas Market. Remainder of the day at leisure. (B) 16 Dec. Vienna. After breakfast this morning we meet our coach driver with our spacious Christmas tour coach. We make out way to the Austrian Christmas town of Steyr where we stop for lunch and a visit to the Kristkindl post office. We then continue to Vienna to being our Austrian WHie Christmas tour. Tonight there will be a Welcome Drink and Dinner in our hotel. Hotel de France. (B,D) Main Tour: If you are starting the Christmas tour in Vienna, you will be transferred from the airport or rail-way station to the Hotel de France. Later that evening meet your fellow travelling companions for the Wel-come Drink and Dinner. 17 Dec. Vienna. A short city tour gives you an overview of the “Imperial Capital”. This is followed by a guided tour through Schonbrunn Palace. The included features end with a visit and tasting at the Old Vi-enna Schnaps Museum. The afternoon is then at leisure to explore the Christmas Markets. (B) 18 Dec. Vienna. This morning we have a tour to Bratislava, capital of Slovakia abd only 80 kms from Vi-enna. The 2 closest capitals in the world. A guided tour of the old town ends with free time for lunch and to explore the Christmas Markets. Return to Vienna for more free time. This evening’s meal is in the wine vil-lage of Grinzing. (B,D) 19 Dec. Salzburg. This morning we depart for Salzburg, with the day’s activities including a guided tour of the Abbey of Melk, and a special performance at the Silent Night Chapel in Oberndorf. Afternoon check in at Hotel Radisson Blu and a free evening. (B) 20 Dec. Salzburg. A guided tour this morning shows the history and culture that makes this one of the most visited towns in Austria. Free time in the afternoon to explore the castle, Christmas Markets or per-haps Mozart’s birthplace and museum. Tonight we attend a special dinner concert. (B,D) 21 Dec. Seefeld. The beauty of the Austrian Alps accompanies us as we make our way to our Christmas destination, high in the Alps near Innsbruck. Afternoon check-in at Hotel Central, where later we enjoy a great dinner. (B,D) 22 Dec. Seefeld—Innsbruck—Seefeld. First up this morning is a visit to world-famous Swarovski Crystal Worlds. Then to Innsbruck for a short guided walking of the old town followed by plenty of time to explore and enjoy the Christmas Markets. Back to Seefeld for free time in the afternoon. Tonight a special dinner in a mountain alm hut, with plenty of fund and music. (B,D)

23 Dec. Seefeld—Bressanone—Seefeld. If you don’t want to sleep in or try skiing, we have a nice excur-sion across the border into Italy and the town of Bressanone. Nice Christmas Markets, good food and great scenery enroute. Back early afternoon so you can enjoy the markets in Seefeld, then dinner in the hotel (B,D) 24 Dec. Seefeld. A free day to enjoy the beauty of the alps. Perhaps a cablecar ride to the Rosshutte peak at around 2,600m. Or skiing. Or tobogganing. Or enjoy the Olympic Sports Complex with it’s heated indoor/outdoor pool and other facilities.. Dinner at the hotel. (B,D) 25 Dec. Seefeld—Merry Christmas!! The morning at leisure before we enjoy a nice Christmas Day lunch at our hotel Maybe Santa left some present for all the good people?? Then it’s off to the castle of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau near Fuessen. A stop here for lunch or a quick castle visit (on your own). In the afternoon we continue to Munich and the Hotel Eden Wolff. Tonight we take the farewell meal at the world-famous Hofbrauhaus. (B,D) 28 Dec. In anticipation that Germany would be awarded the Winter Olympic Games for 1936, Hitler forced the may-ors of the “twin” towns of Garmisch and Partenkirchen to form one town—now with a hyphenated name. Set in the Allgau region of Southern Bavaria it is literally in the shadow of Germany’s highest peak—the Zugspitze at 2,971m. The town and area are popular in summer as a hiking and walking destination, and in the winter attracts tens of thousand of Germans from the north who come to ski, snowboard and enjoy the winter atmosphere. CHRISTMAS IN OBERAMMERGAU 21 - 26 Dec, 2014

The charming village of Oberammergau lies in the Ammer Valley in southern Bavaria, and is renowned for the Passion Play that has been performed here every 10 years since 1633 (next performance 2020). The town is also known for its wood carvings, a trade that evolved when the village was "quarantined" during the Black Plague, and locals whittled away on wood to pass the time. Christmas is a special time in Oberammergau, with the village lit up with yuletide decorations and the stores all showing their Christmas ornamentation. We have selected Oberammergau as another great destination in Germany to celebrate a White Christmas. Skiers might like to try the two local reas—the Kolben and the Laber. This little gem of a village is full of traditional Bavarian-style houses and rustic farm buildings, and is conveniently located near some local ski runs, the German town of Berchtesgaden, and the Austrian town of Salzburg. Your Christmas hotel: Hambergers Post Hotel **** “Our house started as a restaurant over 400 years ago. It is for over 200 years in the possession of the family Hamberger and is now called "Hambergers Post Hotel”. In former times it was called "Obere Taferne" today for the native ones it also still remained “Der Oberwirt”. By the natural situation one assumes our house was one of the first estates in Reit im Winkl. On the door frame of the entry door from marble is chiselled the date of the year 1548, thereby one assumed that this house was again built in this year. The building is documentary mentioned in the year 1300, for the first time, but these documents are discov-ered by Alfons Egger in 1860. In 1927 the large hall was built and opened at the New Year's Eve 1927/1928. This burned down com-pletely in 1970, but one year later it was already renewed and opened again. Since the year 2002 the house is now led overseen Caspar Hamberger, the current proprietor.

The first Winter Olympic games were hosted by Chamonix in 1924 and consecrated the valley as a winter Mecca, with an important number of lifts being built in the ensuing years. A non-refundable deposit of $450 per person per tour is required within 10 days of a booking being made with your travel agent. Final payment is required in our office 60 days prior to the tour commencement date. Bookings requested less than 60 days prior require the full payment. A fee of $50 per person will be charged for any additional revision or alteration made to a confirmed reservation. Escorted tour prices are based on a minimum of 15 persons on the tour, and we reserve the right to pass any service cost increases on to the partici-pant. Itinerary Variation: On any escorted tour, European Travel Direct reserves the right to alter the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, (such as wars, weather/Acts of God, strikes etc) and to substitute ho-tels of a similar category where necessary. Rooms: On all escorted tours and packages, rooms have private facilities and either a double bed or two singles (depending on your request). Room sizes may vary within a hotel. Rooms are allocated on “Run of House” basis. Sin-gle Room Supplement guarantees the room for one person, and does not necessarily mean a larger room.
