Evaluation Question 3Evaluation Question 3What have you learned from your What have you learned from your

audience feedback?audience feedback?

My target audience is teenagers aged 13+ and up, my audience is both males and females alike as the musical genre isn't specifically pointed towards one gender over another. They will enjoy a variety of different genres (musical, film, TV and so on) varying from darker genres (rock and horror) to the lighter genres (Rom-coms and pop.)

They will have varying backgrounds but the majority will be in the middle-working class and will have some disposable income to purchase my products so this audience is financially viable. Their parents/ carers will have typical working class jobs – mechanics, nurses etc. so, again they will have some amount of disposable income from them.

My target audience will also enjoy things that aren't mainstream (hence why they enjoy the alternative-rock music genre in the first place) such as foreign films, TV shows and music and will be very open-minded in a variety of areas.

They will enjoy a variety of different clothing labels but will especially enjoy the brand of “Converse” - shoes, bags and so on.

I think that this is a good target audience as it taps into a place in the market which has not be fully accessed yet in any large media products. I think that the audience is big enough for this to be profitable venture, I also think that because my target audience is mostly middle-working class that information on the band, songs etc. will be carried through my target audience through word-of-mouth, possibly increasing how known the band would become and how popular they would be.

I also think that this is a good target audience as the middle-working class is one of the largest social classes and so the people within that social grouping who enjoy the alternative will be larger than in most other social classes – theoretically increasing how much profit my media products would make.

I think that in terms of a secondary target audience, it would probably appeal to young adults also, people aged around 18-25. These people will be those who are leaving home and gaining more independence in their lives – university, full-times jobs and so on, so they will be looking to “expand their horizons” as it were. This would included looking into a larger variety of music, film and people to mention a few, so this audience would also be a definite possibility.

From my planning I was sure to frequently check on my target audience and see if what I was doing would appeal to them, my narrative idea for my music video was read through by some members of my target audience (an equal amount of male and female to make it fair) and they thought it was a very good story and read through it intently – commenting that they got very excited about how it was going to end.

This was both useful and reassuring to my planning process, because I then knew that I was on the right path with planning my product and that it was getting positive feedback, even in the planning stage. I also was checking constantly through my production process to make sure that what I had been doing was satisfactory in my target audience's eyes.

I did this by using the social networking website “Facebook” which allowed me to contact people who would be included in my target with ease and so that I could record their responses for future reference. These responses and feedback were very important as it allowed me to mould my media pieces more effectively as I was constantly transferring information and progress to my audience who would tell me what they like or don't like.

I also created a set of questionnaires for my target audience to fill in so that I could record this also and keep it to see what I had to change, I also asked a few questions such as if they could see my products as a promotional package, and who they thought my products would appeal to. This extra feedback helped me to further develop my products even more and create a better promotional package.

All of my feedback also helped me in creating products which would appeal to my target audience, as I was getting feedback on what I could “improve” I was also asking what I could do to make appeal to them (as my target audience) more. This was important as towards the end of my production process I asked in one of my questionnaires if they would find it appealing be interested in them, the general census was that, yes, they would be interested and would consider buy the products.

I was also able to make my product more appealing to my target audience as I, myself am part of my target and so I know some of the inner-workings of my audience.

This I was able to use from day one and helped me to work my products towards my audiences, this, along side my various forms of feedback, I was able to create products which I think would appeal to my target audience.
