Evaluation Q6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product.
Technologies in Media!
Technologies are machinery and devices that are developed
from scientific knowledge. One of the most used
technological device in media is a camera. Nearly all media
products have been filmed by cameras.
1) FILMING TECHNOLOGY:
A ‘JVC’ DV Camera
Our DV camera was similar to this one, it was very helpful as it had features such as a microphone (We didn't need an separate one) and was easily attached detached to the fig rig and the tripod.
Where did we use it?
We used a camera to get shots of myself when I was
acting as a teacher.
We used the camera to film myself in the ‘operational theatre.’
Where did we use it?
Where did we use it?
Also, we used a camera to film objects and props.
2) FILMING TECHNOLOGY:
A Flip Cam
This flip cam was important to us in various ways. The videos it saved where very easily downloaded onto the computer and it was small, which saved space.
Where did we use it?
We used the flip cam to film the ‘behind the scenes.’
Where did we use it?
We used the flip cam when we filmed our feedback, which was very helpful.
Batteries
They are not really considered as technologies but its worth mentioning their significance on our filming. They were very helpful when the camera charge was low. When we were far from the technicians office, this was very good because we didn't have to go back to change our batteries as we had spare ones in the bag.
Organisation and planning
Without this we would of found the production very difficult because phones helped us to send messages to the actors and group members. So we knew when to film and what time to film. It helped us to mange our production schedule.
Evidence using it
Our phones helped us to be well prepared.
Editing tools
Without this we couldn't of made our film. All the software programmes were on the Apple Mac. We used it for the planning, editing, and researching.
Editing tools
Premier Pro was very helpful as we edited our whole film on it. We also, made the credits on it too.
Evidence using it
Making the opening credits using Premier Pro.
Editing tools
After effects was a good software programme but we avoided using it as we didn't need it. We could of used it for our credits but Premier Pro had the same tools(basic tools) as well.
Editing tools
QuickTime helped us to download sounds and sound effects into Premier Pro.
Different Softwares
This is the tool that we constantly used as we presented our production throughout the coursework in this website.
Webs used in research and planning
We used safari to gather information about our planning and research of our production.
Webs used in research and planning
We used YouTube in particular to look at past title sequences in real media texts. This helped us to gather detail about our genre and audience.
Evidence using it
Researching similar films of the same genre.
Webs used in research and planning
We used YouGov as it really helped us to find our specific target audience in the genre we were working in.
Evidence using it
This website helped us to find the right target audience for our films.
This website helped us analyse title sequences from all genres.

Presentational methods
This presentational method helped us because it gave a better look to our work.
Presentational methods
I have always used Microsoft PowerPoint and this is a very good method in terms of presenting your work quickly, making it look simple and professional. Slide share was essential as we couldn't embed the PowerPoint's without using this.
Prezi enables you to present your work in a good decent quality.
Presentational methods
Presentational methods
Camtasia helped us to record editing videos and it presented some of our speeches with headings.
Feedback tools
I used Facebook and Twitter to gain feedback from my audience and this helped to research into the target audience interests. However I did get responses and feedbacks which were inappropriate.
Usefulness of technologies Technologies are very important in making a media product and we can’t and never
will be able to have films without them. Equipment such as cameras are essential for filming. I cannot imagine making a film without any use of cameras. Software programming is essential for editing. For example, if we don't have premier pro it is unlikely we will make a decent film. I f we just have shots, then it is hard to make the film more flexible and engaging without special tools like filters. Also, websites such as Google is very important because before you start producing you will have to research into the market, these websites give you enough information, for example about your target audience. Also, social media nowhere days have an great impact on promoting the film to the target audience.
The conclusion I can make is that technologies are very important but they are not that important individually when it comes to making a film. We need all technologies when we are producing a media text. For example, it would be pointless of making a film but not researching because you will have no idea of what your likely to end up with.
In media, technologies can only workout together if you are producing a media text. So for instance you cant produce a film even if you have a camera because if you don't have a software programme to edit, what are you going to do with the shots.
