The title of the film

We have stuck with the conventions as you can see they both have a similar style in the fact the style is tacky and not professional. We choose this layout because we wanted our film to resemble the ones we researched. We made that choice because we wanted our film to live up to the stereotype of a lads holiday comedy film and we thought that this text would reflect the film in the best way. We also needed to follow the conventions as we wanted our teaser trailer to be successful as possible so following what is already popular should help our teaser trailer.

Setting and location• The setting and location, the filming of the teaser trailer was

filmed around the college in our local area there are positives and negatives to this for example the viewers now get an idea of what the characters are like when they are home and gives them a picture of how the characters behave and dress and what they are as people. In the setting and location we did use the conventions of a real media product for example in the Inbetweeners movie before they went on holiday they showed some home life so viewers could get a picture of what they are like as people and the same for Kevin and Perry go Large.

Costumes and propsCostumes and props, we knew this would be key follow the conventions of our teenage lads comedy film for example the characters had to live up to the “chavy” stereotype which was tracksuit bottoms or track tops. As you can see in both photos characters are wearing similar clothes to what we have looked at in our research.

PropsWe have also followed the stereotype and followed the conventions of our research for example we have made sure that in parts of the teaser trailer some of our characters are smoking or drinking this is following the conventions of a teenage stereotype.

ResearchWhen researching about how we should dress our characters we knew, we would want to exaggerate the look we had given them for example in the bottom right picture Dave has a beer and fag inside we thought this would blow out the look we have given him. The tracksuit would also make him look more “chavy” this also go with his Primark branded polo which is a low budgeted brand.

Camerawork and editing

• Camera work and editing we have followed the conventions of camera work and editing for example as you can see the photo below of Dave who is passed out, the shot we used was a low angle mid shot which allowed us to still keep the scenery and props in, but because the camera angle is so low It makes you feel how the character is feeling, it also brings comedy to the shot for example the viewers can laugh at how much of a state he is in. We know we have followed the conventions as the shot on the right a screen grab from the hangover teaser trailer they have done the same.

Title font and style • Title font and styles, we have followed the conventions for our title

and ending fonts for example we have used a similar one to Kevin and Perry go large.

• we have not followed the conventions when introducing our characters in the teaser trailer. For example when characters are introduced in Kevin and Perry there is a black screen and then there name appears with the same text as the film title. We have gone for a different approach, we have the characters name appear at the left bottom side of the screen in a clear bold text when the character is on the screen we did this so it would be easier to remember the name and we thought it would be a lot clearer for the viewer.

Story and how opening sets up

• Our teaser trailer starts with a scene of the main characters talking about what they should to do over their summer holiday. They are sitting on a park bench in this scene all characters smoking and wearing tracksuits and other “chavy” clothing. The viewers will already have judged our characters and have an idea what they are like. I feel we are following the conventions because in the Inbentweeners trailer they show some back ground information about the characters and then one of the characters comes up with idea going on a lads holiday to Malia for the “ booze, sex, music” etc we have tried to do the same.

Page 9: Evaluation Question 1

Genre and how the opening suggest it

• We have followed the conventions of the genre which is comedy for example the language we have used and the props. For example the outfits and language which portray our characters is funny. The same has been used for inbertweeners for example in their teaser trailer they are walking down the strip of their holiday resort looking clueless facially and their outfits are humorous.

How characters are introduced

• The first scene the characters are introduced but not with major detail for example you hear them talk as a group of friends you hear their names but you may not be sure which character is which. In the next scene we go into further detail this is when the character sits down and says something about themselves and tries to let the viewer get to know them, their name also appears at the bottom left side of the screen. We have not followed the conventions as all of the films we researched did not feature this way of introducing the characters but we got the idea from TV show Geordie shore.

Here is an example of the characterDave getting introduced talking aboutHimself and his name has appearedOn the bottom left side of the screen.
