Evaluation Question 6
What Have You Learnt About Technologies From The Process Of
Constructing This Product ?
BloggerAll of the work that I have produced throughout the process of creating my products has been uploaded onto Blogger. This has allowed my work t be viewed easily online by others. I have over come difficulties with this website during the course of my work however I have over come those along with learning many skills.
To begin with I uploaded my work as pages , however found that only 20 pages could be made. To over come this I transferred all of my music magazine work into posts where they are now labelled into relevant sections and my preliminary task is left as pages.
PhotoshopTo edit the photos which I had taken and was going to use in different aspects of my magazine I used Adobe Photoshop. I found this at first a very difficult programme to get the hang of however my preliminary task helped with this and throughout the process I became more familiar and found it a lot easier.
Some of the tools which I used on this include ;• Changing different adjustments of the images such as the levels, hue/saturation •Lasso / Quick Selection Tool to pick certain areas of the image •Clone Stamp tool which allowed me to duplicate certain areas of an image onto another area
Magic Wand / Quick Selection Tool
This was a tool that I used to select areas of my photos quick and easily before editing aspects of them such as changing the adjustments or deleting areas.
Clone Stamp Tool
This is a tool which allowed me to reproduce certain areas of the photo onto different parts of the canvas. It was the tool that I used to create the background for my double page spread giving it a textured feel.
Adjustments
I used the adjustments feature many times during the creation of my music magazine. I feel like this was something that I became more confident with as a became more familiar and by the end of the task I knew which adjustments I must change to achieve the desired effect on the photo or certain area of the photo.
InDesign
Adobe InDesign was the programme which I used to actually create the pages for my magazine. Using InDesign was the next stage in the creation process after I have manipulated my photos to a worthy standard on Photoshop. Alike Photoshop, I did find this a difficult programme to use at first as I was not familiar with it however it became easier over time as many of the tools that I were using were the same for each of the pages I was creating.
This tools included;•Place , to insert images •Line , used for creating borders / shapes•Text Type, allowing me to draw a box where needed and type•Characteristics, for changing aspects of text or stroke of things•Gradient Swatch, to create a gradient effect within designated areas or on the whole page.
Gradient Swatch Tool
This was a tool which at first I struggled to use however after practice I became familiar with it and was able to use it effectively in my work. I used it to add a gradient fill on the char bar which I inserted onto my contents page.
Eyedropper Tool
This tool allowed me to pick up colours from parts of the page and drop the colour onto other parts or into a swatch. This ensured exact consistency on my products making them look as professional as possible.
Characteristics Window
When inserting text onto my products I was able to modify the font that I had already chosen to use through changing the characteristics of the text on this window. This was something that I used actively when I was researching titles for my final products.
Cannon DSLR All of the photos which I took for all three of the pages of my magazine were with a Cannon DSLR camera. I had never used a camera such as this before to take serious pictures therefore learnt a lot about it over this process. In some cases I used the camera in conjunction with a backdrop and lighting to ensure I captured the most professional photos and light my models features appropriately. In other shoots I used a light reflector and hand held lighting as in a dark outside environment I found that it was important to capture as much extra light as possible. I also have learnt a lot about camera angles as I have used a variety of these through different shoots for my end product from extreme close ups to mid shots.
Other Technologies UsedTo complete the evaluation questions for this product I have used a variety of technologies,
some in which I am already familiar with and others I am using for the first time.
