Question 1Who would be the audience for your

media product? For my music magazine I have gone for the same audience as ‘Billboard’ and ‘Vibe’ as these are R&B music magazines. My

music magazine is R&B so this is why I know my music magazine is the same audience as those music magazines I have used for examples to help me. I have made my music magazine unique as instead of being rebellious R&B, I have gone for heavenly side of R&B. This would make people the

age of 16-26 years olds buy my magazine as it interest them as it would be a new kind of magazine out.

Question 1Who would be the audience for your

media product?

Vibe the music magazine only used 3 colours during the magazine for the colour scheme. In there R&B music magazines they create, it usually pink, black, white and blue. This attracts teenage girls 16-26 years old as it is ‘girly’ colours. But also Vibes primary colours will attract teenage lads 16-26 years old. This music magazine varies its audience.

In my music magazine I have used the same colours except from blue as it is the same genre as my music magazine. This means my music magazine varies the audience as well.

Question 1Who would be the audience for

your media product?

Primary AudienceThe main audience for my music magazine (product) is teenagers, girls and boys, the age of 16-26 years old. Teenage girls and boys will be attracted to the colours of the magazine and also will be attracted to the artists which will be in this magazine. But mostly the boys will be classed as secondary audience as the whole scheme of this magazine is the heavenly side of R&B music, as there is a new artist out and my magazine is coming across as more as feminine magazine. The genre of my magazine is R&B so the primary audience will be of R&B fans which would be surprised seeing ‘heavenly side’ on this music magazine and would be interested to read more as R&B is rebellious. As I have mentioned the audience will be the ages of teenagers to adults (16-26 years old) is because they mainly interested of the popular music.

Question 1Who would be the audience for your

media product?

Secondary AudienceThe secondary audience of my music magazine (product) is people who wouldn’t necessarily buy my product but have a look at it if friends or family had it lying round the house. For my music magazine I have used the ages of 16/26 years old to read this magazine but maybe other ages will read this. I have put celebrities/artists that all different ranges of R&B music in this magazine which different audiences can read this so just not one type of R&B music is in the magazine. To challenge my magazine better I will put a range of features for all types of audiences so more people will be interested and will want to buy this magazine. Not just the audience who I’ve aimed the magazine at will read this magazine, friends and family of the person who has bought this will also just flick through this product which is available to them I have produced. In the future they might buy this magazine as they might be interested to them as they have flicked through the magazine.

Page 8: Evaluation Questions

Question 1Who would be the audience for

your media product?

Audience IdolsWhen creating my music magazine (my product), I have researched the top ten music in R&B to show different type of idols in the R&B industry are included in my music magazine. Also I have researched new R&B CD’s which would be out now which would include the idols of the R&B industry so more R&B fans would be interested in this magazine. But in my music magazine which I have created, I have one main artist but this is too all different types of R&B fans as it is the new latest R&B music genre out. This will make the audience very interested in my product.

Page 10: Evaluation Questions

Question 2How does your media product

represent particular social groups?

My media product is based on R&B which is ‘rebellious’ but I have challenged my music magazine to be rebelish as I have included different idols in the top ten R&B songs and new exclusive R&B CD’s but also I have included a heavenly side of R&B. The Star (artist) I have created is innocent and is completely different to the normal R&B genre. This will represent to different type of social groups as there is different types of R&B included in my music magazine I have produced. I have made my Star innocent to the audience as it will make them less threatened and make them be interested as they have not seen this kind of R&B genre before. This would make the audience be inspired by her and want to be more like her.

Page 11: Evaluation Questions

Question 2How does your media product

represent particular social groups?

The photos which I have took of My Star are innocent which would make the audience be inspired by her as she is a different kind of R&B artist. I have made my

star the same age and same gender as the ideal reader which makes the ideal reader more interested in this and also would attract more of the audience. This will inspire

the audience as The Star has came far to become an artist and make the audience achieve their goals like she did. As well this would make the audience be inspired as

she is young and will be popular in the charts.

Page 12: Evaluation Questions

Question 2How does your media product

represent particular social groups?

The Stars clothes shows rebellious side to her but her smile just shows innocence which is attracting different audiences to this magazine. Also the gold chain round her neck is showing she is tough and can get through anything and that’s how she achieved her goals. But her white top is showing the innocent side as angels are dressed in white which is heavenly and shows the good side of her how nice she is in the music industry and outside the music industry. Most of the pictures of My Star in my product are using eye contact with the camera.

Page 13: Evaluation Questions

Question 2How does your media product

represent particular social groups?

Keri Hilson is the idol who I’ve represented with The Star who I’ve put into my media product. Keri Hilson is an R&B artist which is very innocent in her music. In this picture of Keri Hilson she is wearing big gold earrings and a gold chain to show is tough just like my Star has on in her pictures on my product. But her smile makes her look so innocent and also her top which is white shows she heavenly as angels wear white clothes. Also she has eye contact with the camera. All this represents the Star I have chosen which be presented to social groups which like innocent R&B.

Question 3 What kind of media institution

might distribute your product?

I have advertised on my product the website of where you could look at more of this product and look at even more information about what ‘BEATZ’ is about. Also this will show previews of what the next magazine will be like. This website is on all front covers, content pages and double page spreads.

Page 16: Evaluation Questions

Question 3 What kind of media institution

might distribute your product? My product would be sold monthly as it would be the gossip

of the whole month, it would be published at the start of the month about the last month that will gone by. This makes my product more expensive as it would have a lot of information

from the past month in it. Also the product would be expensive as it will have different things selling with the

magazine e.g. vouchers for HMV, parts of different makeup, different parts of jewellery etc. As well I will represent my

product on social websites such as Facebook, instagram and twitter so I would have more people to buy this magazine or have a look on the website. Putting my product on different

websites would attract a lot of people which would make them want to buy this product or buy the future products

made by this company.

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Front cover Magazine

My ProductFor my product I have used the colour scheme of pink, white and black as these are R&B colours of a music magazine. I have put pugs on this advertising music vouchers so the audience can download the R&B music in this magazine. I have put a couple of features on this front cover to make the audience want to look more into the magazine and find out more about these features. For one of my features I have just put pictures down the side of this product to make the audience want to look more into the magazine and find out more information about this feature. For the other features I have just done a little description. On this product I have put the price of the music magazine, the website and the bar code which would be on all magazines so this could be sold to the audience I have aimed this at. The main image is in the middle of the front cover but mainly on the left hand side. The main image has a purpose as it is the main cover story of this magazine. Also I have only used 3 fonts on this product as all other magazines only use up to 3 fonts. The logo of the magazine is at the top and in bold to show the audience what type of magazine it is. The title is introducing the cover story that I have done for the double page spread. I have challenged my front cover by making it an innocent type of R&B music magazine.

Page 20: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?

Front cover Magazine I have chosen VIBE music magazine to develop my ideas into making my own

music magazine. These front cover especially interested me as they are

bold and the colour scheme stands out. Also I chosen these as they were R&B music magazines which I have based

my music magazines genre on.

Page 21: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Front cover Magazine

These products of music magazines are all from the VIBE magazine. I have chose these as they R&B music magazines which I have based my music magazine on (my product).

SimilaritiesThe similarities between the magazines which I have produced and VIBE have produced is the colour scheme. The colour scheme that has been used in VIBE music magazines is pink, white and black. These are the colours I have used for my music magazine. But there are secondary colours such as blue and orange which has been used in these. The logo of VIBE music magazine is big, bold and is at the top of the front cover page. This is how I laid out my logo of my magazine. The main image is right of the middle of the front cover which I have done in my magazine as well. The title is introducing the main cover story of these music magazines which my music magazine is. Also the title is big and bold, to show the audience that is going to be the main cover story in this magazine. There is a price, a bar code and a website also on these front covers of VIBE music magazine. Some of VIBE music magazines have pictures on them to make the audience want to see more information about these pictures. All the writing is in bold on the front cover of VIBE music magazine and there is only 3 font used on each of these magazines I have chosen. As well VIBE music magazine have put a couple of features on there magazine to make the audience want to read more about it.

Page 22: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?

Differences

Front cover Magazine

The differences between my music magazine (my product) and VIBE’s music magazine is that the main image on VIBE’s music magazine is that there all look ‘stush’ which means they know there big in the music industry, and there like a ‘God’ to there fans. In my music magazine the main image is innocent and smiling. This is because I have developed my magazine by making R&B ‘heavenly’, ‘innocent’ and ‘cute’ when really R&B is ‘rebelish’ and ‘stush’. The title of the VIBE music magazine doesn’t have a background on the text which my product has. Also these music magazine I have picked do not have any pugs on these advertising anything they get with the magazine which doesn’t make the audience want to buy this product, which my music magazine has been developed and make the audience want to buy the product I have made even more than they did. VIBE music magazine have put a banner at the top of there page above the logo to show more features on this magazine. Also the price on my product is cheaper than these R&B music front cover magazines.

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?

For my product I have put the logo at the top of the page on the left cause the audience will read from left to right. Next to that I have put the title of ‘Contents’ to show the audience this is a contents page. I have made the logo and the title of this page bold, as R&B genre is bold and stands out. Underneath this I have put the features that are going to be in this magazine. The main cover story page number is bigger than the rest of the features to make it stand out. Also next the page number I have put ‘Cover Story’ to show this is the cover story. Under each of the titles of the features which I have put in this magazine is a description of what is on that page. I haven’t put a lot of information as I’d like the audience to find out for themselves what is on this page. The colour scheme is still pink, white and black as it will be throughout the whole of this magazine as R&B main colours are pink, white and black. I have put a banner on this page to show the main image is about the cover story and giving a ‘shout out’ to the photographer and stylist. As well I have included the website and the date of when the magazine was out. I have only put one main image on the contents page to show that the cover story is the main thing about this magazine.

Page 24: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Contents Page Of Music Magazine

I have chosen different types of R&B music magazines of contents pages to give me ideas of how to develop my music magazine. These contents pages interested me as they are bold and one of these I have chose looks innocent as I have based my music magazine on.

Page 25: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Contents Page Of Music Magazine

Similarities The similarities of these contents pages to my contents pages is that the title is bold and also has the logo of the magazine on the contents page. There is only one main image on the contents page which will be about the main cover story during this magazine. This is what I have also done for my product. The features are down one side of the page and also has a description on it like I have done on my music magazine. The titles are all in big and bold to make it stand out to the audience which I have done in my music magazine. The colour scheme will be the same throughout the magazine so the colour scheme of these magazines will be the same as the front covers and for my music magazine I have used the same colour scheme for my contents page as I have used for the front cover which means this colour scheme will be used throughout. Also the colour scheme is very dark colours to represent R&B, and I have used dark colours in my contents page. This help me develop my ideas on making a contents page. They have put the date on these contents pages and put the website as I have put the date on my product and the website.

Page 26: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Contents Page Of Music Magazine

DifferencesThe differences that are between the content pages I have used and my product are the main images are in the centre. My product main image is on the right hand side as the audience would see that last as people read from left to right. There is more words under each title of the features which describes what is on that page. I have only put a sentence underneath each title of the features. I challenged my music magazine by putting a banner at the bottom of the page about the stylist and photographer to make that stand out to say a thank you to them by styling and taking photos of the main artist for the cover story. These contents pages didn’t put a banner, they put tiny text at the bottom of the page about the photographer and stylist which the audience wouldn’t really look at. In my magazine product I put bold black lines between different types of the contents so it splits into 3 sections, but the content pages I have picked do not have any bold lines to spilt the contents up into different sections. I have made the text bigger on each number next to the features on my product to make the page numbers stand out. On the content pages which I have picked the page numbers are just the same font size as the rest of the text with the features so they don’t stand out.

Page 27: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Double Page Spread Of Music Magazine

My productFor my product I have put the logo on the top left hand side of the page as the audience will look at the top left first to show this is a ‘BEATZ’ magazine. Underneath this I have put little photos in black and white of my Star I have currently done my double page spread about and I designed these pictures in black and white on Photoshop. For the main image I have put this right in the middle of the page so it stands out. The first paragraph of my article is in bold so it stands out and it introduces you into the article. Also the first letter of the first word is bigger than any other text in this to show the audience that is the start of the article and also it stands out which attracts the audience. The quote on the page which is from the current star I have been talking about in my article is in bold font and is standing out, the main words are in pink to stand out even more to attract the audience to take advice by her quote. The article are in neat columns so it is easy for the audience to read. I have included who was the photographer and makeup artist for these pictures. I have included the date in the bottom right hand corner and the website so the audience can explore more about the product ‘BEATZ’. There are two page numbers on the page as it is a double page spread so when this is folded it will be 2 pages. The title of the article is in bold and the important words in this title are in pink which makes it stand out even more and goes with the colour scheme. The images are showing the star she is innocent and always smiling which means she is happy about her career.

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Double Page Spread Of Music Magazine

I have chosen different types of R&B music magazines of double page

spreads to give me ideas of how to develop my music magazine. These

double pages spread interested me as they are bold and one of these I have chose looks innocent as I have based

my music magazine on.

Page 29: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Double Page Spread Of Music Magazine

Similarities The double page spreads I have picked of the internet are similar to my product (music magazine). They are similar as these double spread pages have neat columns like I have done on my product. They have a main image of the star which there article is about which takes up most of the page like in my product I have put the main image of my star which is massive. In most double spread pages they have little images of the star next to the main image and I have put little images next to my main image. The title is in bold font which my product has as well. There is a quote from the star which is in bold text or in a different colour of text which on my product I have put it in bold font and different coloured text to the main article. There is page numbers on each page which I have done on my product. Some of these double pages spreads have logos of there music magazine so on my product I have put the logo. Throughout the page on these double page spreads there is a colour scheme, it isn’t just random colours or a lot of colours and on my product I have made a colour scheme throughout my double page spread.

Page 30: Evaluation Questions

Question 4In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?Double Page Spread Of Music Magazine

Differences There isn’t that much difference between the R&B music double page spreads I have chosen and my product that I have created but the difference is that these double page spreads don’t have the website on the on there page and the date on this page. I have challenged and developed my product by putting the name of the photographer and the name of the makeup artist next to the main image to say thank you for doing makeup and taking the photo for this my product. I have put on my product the first paragraph in bold font to make it stand out and not many of double page spread I have done this so I have developed my product even more. The images of other R&B music double page spreads are all posing like they are bad, and the images I have put on my product are mostly innocent. Most of double page spreads don’t have the logo on there page so I have developed and put the logo on the page to make sure the audience know what magazine it is. Some of the double page spreads don’t have little images of the star and just have the main image. My product has the main image and little images of the star which has developed my product.

Question 6What have you learnt about technologies

from the process of constructing this product?

I used publisher and Photoshop to create my product (magazine).

I used Photoshop for the font of my product to make my magazine stand out and bold.

Also the pictures have been edited on Photoshop to make the photos better quality and make sure they have a see through background so you can put text behind the photos. Also I have edited the photos in Photoshop so you can change the colour of the photo, such as I have changed my to black and white on my DPS.

Page 43: Evaluation Questions

Question 6What have you learnt about technologies

from the process of constructing this product?

The rest of the product (magazine) has been designed on publisher as I didn’t want a complicated design, I just wanted a plain design as I’ve kept the colour scheme at 3 colours which is original. Some of the text on this product has been put on by publisher such as the small writing as Photoshop makes the font big and bold, publisher makes the font small and tiny e.g. the price and website.

Question 6What have you learnt about technologies

from the process of constructing this product?

For the front cover this is the main image of the magazine. To get rid of the back ground, I used the rubber to make the back ground transparent.

To change the colour of the her skin tone I used ‘Hue/Saturation’. This made her skin darker so she didn’t look pale.

Page 49: Evaluation Questions

Question 7Looking back at your preliminary task (Aquinas College

Magazine), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression to the full product?

This is my first task I got given which is an Aquinas magazine and I only used Photoshop for the picture I have used. For the rest I have used publisher, I think I have improved a lot from this task as I developed better skills in Photoshop and publisher and looked at more different magazines to get an idea to make my own product (music magazine.

Page 50: Evaluation Questions

Question 7Looking back at your preliminary task (Aquinas College

Magazine), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression to the full product?

I have improved a lot compared to my first task and my overall final product as my first task was to make a Aquinas College Magazine and my final product was to make a music magazine which is on the right of the writing. I have learnt about magazine conventions which reflect through my three music magazine product pages.

Page 51: Evaluation Questions

Question 7Looking back at your preliminary task (Aquinas College

Magazine), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression to the full product?

My first task of the Aquinas Magazine did not look like a magazine, there was no price tag, there was boxes round the features, the master head was not big enough, the pug did not look realistic. My final product of the music magazine it does look more realistic, looks more like a magazine. The master head is big enough and is behind the main image. All the features aren’t all on there as it would come as a surprise to the audience. The font is in bold to stand out and attract the audience. The little images are just all off one feature so the audience would want to know more about the other features as there is no pictures with them. There is a price tag and the price next to it to show the audience how much the magazine is. The date is on this music magazine as the audience knows when this was published. Introduces the Cover Star on the front cover so the audience wants to see more about the cover star on the cover story. The main image on the page is showing who the cover star is of the whole magazine. The pug looks more realistic as it is in a round circle and small font but in bold so the audience can still get attracted to it.
