1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 3: Evaluation Questions

Use ConventionsMy trailer uses conventions by being 2 minutes long.

It is also not chronological and doesn’t give too much of my plot away.

My poster conforms with film posters by having credits on the bottom acknowledging others that helped on the film.

Challenge ConventionsBoth my poster and my magazine challenge conventions by having very small amounts of colour on them.

They are both very dark which is unusual for a poster or magazine.

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Page 6: Evaluation Questions

Main Product and Ancillary TextsMy products work well alongside each other.

I decided to use the the same font for ‘the Watching title in all of my products so that they all kept continuity with one and other.

Researching into this I found that movies often use the same font for the name of the film, whether it’s on the trailer, movie or a piece of print.

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Page 9: Evaluation Questions

FeedbackMy feedback has taught me that what sometimes I prefer the audience doesn’t.

In the film industry it’s about creating a product the audience will enjoy so it’s key to listen to your feedback.

I originally had my poster very dark but lightened it after feedback.

Feedback

In my feedback I also learnt that colour on a magazine can make it more appealing to the audience.

I originally had no colour on my cover but I now have a collectors cover with colour, and the blue blazer.

Feedback

One other thing I learnt was that some clips can’t be in your trailer if they are too funny and don’t fit the genre.

I originally had a coffee cup knocking out my murderer but that was too funny and wasn’t realistic enough for a thriller genre movie.

4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Page 13: Evaluation Questions

In construction I used the most media technologies.

I used Photoshop for my print work, iMovie for my trailer along with Garageband.

For my construction media technologies were very important.

Research

In my research I used the internet to find out about magazine covers.

Using the archive facilities on Empire Magazine made it easy to look for and review magazine covers.

I could also Google for Total Film covers.

Planning

In planning I scanned in images that I had.

When I was planning my cover for my magazine an early idea I had I drew out on paper first, then scanned it into the computer so I could blog it.

Evaluation

For my evaluation I decided to do my questions in a power point.

Using a power point makes viewing pictures easier and it is a clearer, shorter way of expressing the key information about your products.
