Evaluation Questions In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? My media product uses dark colour such as burgundy and black which connotes sophistication and is normally associated with an older target audience like Q magazine it is aimed at men around the age of 30, in this instance my magazine is challenging stereotypes by aiming a sophisticated magazine and targeting a young target audience, this is done by producing a look of elegance but including faces that will be recognised by a youthful audience. This is done by magazine like kerrang, who are of a similar genre to mine- rock. They mainly include the biggest rock bands from new to old but the style of the magazine is rebellious linking to a youthful audience. How does your media product represent particular social groups? Evaluation Questions

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My magazine represents the social groups of young people who want to start a music career but haven’t had that chance or opportunity to be seen as serious musician, this attracts young people but also in the future we can expand are target audience because this will also intrigue adults who possibly wanted to be musicians but haven’t had the chance. The main genre of the magazine is alternative rock to it will mainly interest people that like that music, listen to it on a daily basis and want to know more about their favourite band members and singers.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my media product would be young people interested in the genre of alternative rock and the people, who are famous with in that genre of music such as fallout boy, panic! At the Disco, Arctic monkeys etc. This allows fans to keep updated on the time of gigs and festivals were these bands are going to play. This magazine will also attract a larger overall target audience because its main feature is to allow new bands to have a chance of being introduced into the world of music, this will attract young people who are in a band who they think will go far, this will allow feedback for the band and also introduce the audience to new even more ‘alternative’ music;

How did you attract/address your audience?

I attracted my audience my advertising the big, new idea for magazine and main priority/ focus, allowing are target audience to be involved with the production of my magazine, I asked people what they would like to see with in a music magazine, they chose the genre by a majority vote, what information should be included and what age the magazine should be aimed at. In conclusion we gave the ability of writing a story with in the magazine to a random band each week, this allows people a fair chance of showing off their talent.

The main image of my front page also addresses the audience by looking straight at the audience suggesting they are looking at every singular audience member unconsciously making them feel special and involved with in his story which is what a audience member wants, a sense of feeling special when they put this magazine down.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have learnt that Photoshop is not the best way to construct a magazine, at first, stubborn, I decided to construct my magazine within Indesign as I was informed that it made it a lot easier and was purposely built to layout images and eventually producing designs, the initial set up of Indesign is difficult so I had to research the correct size for my margins, the

meaning and size of my bleed lines and to change the size of images, after this I found the piece of software was a lot easier then Photoshop to move around images and insert images. Although I did not find Photoshop useful when constructing, I found extremely useful when it came to editing. Although difficult at first to realize what everything does and where to find it is hard, there are millions of tutorials on YouTube that can help this.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at preliminary task I wish that I could have used more of a variety of software such as Indesign to produce my final design because the final layout would have looked a lot more professional. This is because a lot of my images and text were spread unequally making the final outcome look rushed. I have also decide to choose a genre that is not stereotypical with in the form , this appeals to audience which has not is not yet got A magazine relative to them and also introducing more people to the genre, so does not have to compete with another magazine, therefore more people will buy that magazine. The use of a more in-depth questionnaire has allowed me to see what my audience wants in turn I am able to be more specific on what to include within my magazine which appeals to the target audience. I represent my audience by including them literally with in my magazine making them feel more involved therefore making them feel special which will increase the target audience, I did not even take this into account during my preliminary task and just did what I thought was best but this time I have taken the opinions of my audience into account. These each in turn are what have made my magazine what it is now, is how I have improved and what I have learnt during this period of time.
