I have spent the last four years a member of my campus newspaper, reporting on breaking news, covering athletics, sharing human interest stories and writing editorials that encourage campus discussion. WritingIn the fall, I broke the news of the university president’s declining health. He died in the spring. I was one of the last reporters in the area to photograph and interview him.

In the spring, I wrote about Wichita State baseball’s ticket numbers and the disparity separating paid attendance and actual attendance.

In the spring, I published a story of a track athlete who narrowly escaped a house fire. In the fall, I published a feature story about a high school dropout whose perserverace made him a starter for the Wichita State men’s basketball team.

In the summer, I wrote a feature story about a 43-year-old musician who plays with the energy of a 20-year-old in a Western Swing band dubbed “Hot Club of Cowtown.”

Two years ago, I covered the story of an alleged racial incident directed at the outgoing student body president.
