Our firm is composed of professionals with long experience in the sector. EOS offers innovative solutions of high technology, environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

THE PRODUCTEOS Refrigeration Equipment presents its new range of NEK evaporative condensers. These are forced draft evaporative condensers using axial fans fited with directly coupled motors and a casing of glass fibre reinforced polyester. This range is specially designed for the field of industrial refrigeration, air conditioning and all kinds of steam condensation processes.

The units are fited with SUPER SILENCE TECH technology which means that they are very quiet.

The NEK range is conceived for correct installation and functioning even in category C5 atmospheres (maximum degree of corrosion according to standard ISO 9223:1992 – marine or heavy industry environments).

The range of capacities of NEK evaporative condensers is between 350 kW and 4800 kW. These condensers work with a large variety of refrigerants (R717, R404A, R507A, R134a, R407A, etc.) and offer extraordinary facility of maintenance in any type of installation.

NEK condensers are high energy efficiency units due to the combination of WINDER technology in the fan blades and motors of new efficiency class IE3, together with their modular, innovative design.

2. HEAT EXCHANGER COIL The heat exchange coil of the NEK evaporative condenser is made in smooth steel piping of highest quality. The coil is arranged inclined in a steel frame to provide for free drainage of the internal fluid, and is TIG welded to the collectors before hot-dip galvanising in a discontinuous process for the whole assembly.

The design with smooth piping avoids the excessive lime deposits characteristic of finned coils, which dramatically reduce the performance of the heat exchanger.

The covering coat of FE/ZN alloy on the coil piping of the NEK condenser heat exchangers is approximately 100 microns, according to standard UNE-EN ISO 1461:2010. This standard is the highest available in the market.

The heat exchanger is subjected to a pressure test with dry air at 31 bar (submerged in a special pool), in this way ensuring the detection of possible leaks. This test is made before and after the hot-dip galvanizing process for reasons of safety and quality. The condenser is supplied loaded with nitrogen at 3 bar to be able to check the integrity of the coil when the unit is located in the installation.

The design and manufacture of the coil is carried out in conformity with the European Directive on pressure equipment (PED) 97/23/EC.

1. GFRP CASINGThe casing of the NEK evaporative condenser is manufactured entirely in fiber-reinforced polyester (GFRP), a material which gives the equipment practically unlimited durability due to its high chemical resistance to corrosive agents. GFRP is a dielectric material and therefore is excluded from cases of electrochemical corrosion.

GFRP has great mechanical resistance, with resistance to flexion at a value of 1300 kg/cm2 (standard ASTM, D-790). Its chemical and mechanical resistance and its inalterability mean that an installation made with this material will last indefinitely.

The specific weight of the material is 3.5 times less than that of carbon steel, although GFRP easily surpasses steel in specific resistance. For this reason the NEK evaporative condenser is

much lighter and more resistant than traditional condensers with steel cowling. Due to its reduced weight

the structure supporting the condenser can be minimized and assembly is considerably simplified. The casing surrounding the condenser is made in two parts. Both are manufactured in a single piece and without joints, to guarantee the fully watertight seal of the equipment. The water collection basin has rounded edges at the corners and a spacious design to make cleaning, inspection and maintenance of the evaporative condenser much easier.

Optionally the condenser casing can be made in different colours, to the customer’s choice, for criteria of architectural harmonization of the installation where the equipment is to be installed, or in line with aesthetic criteria (see schedule).

3. WINDER FANSIn the NEK series the axial fans in standard production have asynchronous six pole motors which meet the IE3 efficiency levels of standard IEC 60034-30 (ERP ready 2015). These are three-phase motors with IP55 degree of protection and class “F” insulation (HV 80K), suitable for working with frequency shifters.

In NEK condenser fan the motor is coupled directly to the fan shaft and therefore with no transmission loss through a coupling. In consequence the useful life of the fan is much greater than in another with transmission, and needs no maintenance.

The ionized aluminium fan blades are of an innovative design and exclusive. As can be seen in the sketch below, the teeth are “sickle” shaped (A) which guarantees improvements in flow and pressure, there is also the “winglet” (B) at the extreme periphery of the teeth to eliminate turbulence and a toothed lip (C) on the discharge section which substantially reduces the noise level (SUPER SILENCE TECH). Advanced applications have been used in its design, such as the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) systems.

The next graphic illustrates how a NEK evaporative condenser with WINDER blades requires less installed electrical power than another condenser with conventional fans. The combination of this special blade with the highly efficient IE3 motor results in a notable increase in fan performance and therefore a reduction of consumption of up to 20%, which means a significant saving in energy.

On the other hand, and as a consequence of the innovative design of the blade, the level of sound pressure of the fan is reduced by up to 5 db(A), making the NEK condenser an extremely versatile and perfectly balanced unit (lower power consumption and very reduced noise level).

If particularly low sound levels are required, condensers can optionally be supplied with 8 or 12 pole motors.

NEK evaporative condensers are of forced draft counter flow. In forced draft evaporative condensers the air is discharged at low speed from the upper part of the condenser. They are more efficient than induced flow equipments, as the dynamic pressure converted to static has a useful function. The moving air is cold air and therefore of greater density than in the case of induced flow, so that the fans will last much longer than when working with cold air unsaturated, which is less corrosive than the hot saturated output air.

6. WATER FILTERING SYSTEM The filtering system for re-circulating water is located in the pump intake. The filter consists of two filter stages to protect effectively both the recirculation pump and the water pulverization system. The filter can be removed for easy cleaning and maintenance. All the parts are made in stainless steel.

7. WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM The water distribution system of the condenser consists of two main parts.

The outer part is formed by the pump impulsion tube made in PVC. The special rubber expansion joint with high quality rotary flanges is installed inside it. This whole is supplied preassembled for easy installation.

The inner part is composed of a water collector in hot galvanized steel with pulverization branches in PVC and

VORTEXJET spray nozzles.

The VORTEXJET fine spray nozzles with a patented

central post design ensure an absolutely uniform distribution and optimum atomization of water, and for this reason rapid heat transfer and the effective shock of drops in suspension in the air. The spray nozzles have removable caps for easy cleaning and the parts have a long useful life.

8. INSPECTION DOORThe NEK evaporative condenser has one or several large size inspection doors made in stainless steel. The inspection door allows easy access to the interior of condenser for its inspection, cleaning and maintenance.

9. SEALSKIN WATERTIGHT SYSTEM V. 2.0.The NEK evaporative condenser incorporates the SEALSKIN watertight system which ensures that the installed equipment is absolutely watertight. The system consists of a single horizontal joint to fit the two parts (there are no vertical joints in any condenser in the range) and a joint specially designed for this purpose.

10. LEVEL CONTROL The standard NEK evaporative condenser is supplied with a mechanical device for control of the water level. Optionally it can be supplied with an electric water level control.

4. DRIFT ELIMINATORS The drift eliminators installed in NEK evaporative condensers are made in high quality PVC offering excellent resistance to ambient factors and inorganic chemical agents.

They are highly efficient separators (losses for start-up of less than 0.001% of re-circulated water) due to their geometry of 4 changes of air flow direction.

The drop separators are mounted on stainless steel frames of easy handling in the upper part of the condenser, simplifying the tasks of inspection and cleaning the equipment.

5. RECIRCULATION PUMP The NEK evaporative condenser is fited as standard with a recirculation pump of monoblock type. The pumps are energy efficient, reliable and meet standards EN733 and ISO2858.

The pumps installed on the NEK series have a great reputation at world level due to its high quality, advanced technology and high energy performance. The worldwide involvement ensures the availability of spares quickly and economically anywhere in the world.

The pump is a dry rotor pump in a monoblock design with flanged connection and is prepared for installation

in corrosive atmospheres.

The outside has been treated by cataphoresis, which consists of cathode electro-deposit and coating with zinc phosphate which ensures a long useful life for the component.

The directly coupled electric motor is three-phase type, closed with exterior ventilation and IP-55 protection for working outdoors.

The nominal capacity of the NEK condensers, indicated in this catalogue, is with ammonia (R717), for a condensation temperature of 40ºC and with air at 28ºC wet bulb temperature.The following tables give the correction factors of nominal capacity for other condensation and wet bulb temperatures. Table 1 is for R717 and Table 2 for R404A. For other fluids, please enquire from our technical department.
