Public Health Dorset Weekly updates about rates of Coronavirus in Dorset can be found on the Public Health Dorset website at: https://www.publichealthdorset.org.uk/your-health/protecting-your-health/latest-updates-on-covid-19-in-dorset.aspx Register now for regular asymptomatic Covid-19 testing Public Health Dorset, on behalf of BCP and Dorset councils, has set up a new rapid testing service for volunteers and employees who cannot work from home due to the nature of their role One in three people who have Covid-19 show no symptoms and can therefore spread it without knowing. The aim is to identify cases quickly and to break the chains of transmission, protecting you, your family and you co-workers. They are offering weekly testing, using a Lateral Flow Device, at one of a number of test centres that have been set up across the county. You will need to be able to commit to six weeks of testing. Access to this service is for people who don’t already have access to asymptomatic testing. If you already have access to asymptomatic testing e.g. through an NHS or care home employer, you are not able to access the community service. Volunteers are needed to help audit the quality of walking routes in Dorchester using a specially devised audit tool. This will guide Dorset Council in planning improvements for making life for pedestrians pleasanter and safer. More information from Cllr. DORSETWOMEN'S DAY2021

For 2021, our committee made the decision to theme the event all aboutwellbeing and self-care. Things have been challenging for us all recently, sowe are really looking forward to hosting an event which encourages us tobe kind to ourselves – at the same time as bringing women in Dorsettogether.

The workshops will take place via Zoom and you are welcome to join inwith as many (or as few) workshops as you like. All Dorset Women’s Dayparticipants are also warmly invited to our “afterparty” at 5pm – we’d loveto hear what you thought of the day!

WAND have also decided to fundraise for the Shine Project via our eventsthis year. The Shine Project do some really invaluable work with teen girls,with the aim of building their confidence, self-esteem, and mental andphysical health. While Dorset Women’s Day workshops are free to attend,participants are encouraged to make a donation to Shine if they are able todo so.

Funding available

1. The Na2onal Lo5ery Heritage Fund The Na'onal Lo,ery Heritage Fund has announced that applica'ons have reopened for project grants from £3,000 to £5m. The fund closed its doors in March 2020 to new projects while all efforts switched to suppor'ng heritage across the UK to survive and recover from the impact of Covid-19. In November, applica'ons for projects between £3,000 to £100,000 reopened and from 8 February, applica'ons are once again open for funding awards from £3,000 up to £5m. Refocused priori2es for 2021-22 Between April 2021 to March 2022, when making funding decisions, they will priori'se heritage projects that: • boost the local economy • encourage skills development and job crea'on • support wellbeing • create be,er places to live, work and visit • improve the resilience of organisa'ons working in heritage

The inclusion outcome – a wider range of people will be involved in heritage – remains mandatory for all projects. In addi'on, all projects must demonstrate they are environmentally responsible and are integra'ng environmental measures into their projects. 2. Magic Li5le Grants 2021 - Open on 1 March Smaller chari'es and community groups across Great Britain can apply for a one-off £500 grant from 1 March un'l 31 October 2021.

Six funding trusts from the People’s Postcode Lo,ery and Localgiving will be working together to award more than £1 million in small grants to some 2,000 charitable organisa'ons in England, Scotland and Wales over the next six months. Unlike previous years when projects had to deliver sports or physical ac'vi'es, this year (2021) the funding aims to support organisa'ons carrying out projects that address the following themes:

• Improving mental wellbeing • Enabling community par'cipa'on in the arts • Preven'ng or reducing the impact of poverty • Suppor'ng marginalised groups and promo'ng equality • Improving biodiversity and green spaces • Enabling par'cipa'on in physical ac'vity • Responding to the climate emergency and promo'ng sustainability • Increasing community access to outdoor space.

Organisa'ons that receive a grant will also be awarded a year of free membership (funded by the player’s of the People’s Postcode Lo,ery). This means that the grant recipient will not have to pay the £80 + VAT membership fee, although they will s'll be required to set up a direct debit upon registra'on. Also new for 2021, charitable organisa'ons that are schools or connected to schools may apply. This is in addi'on to registered chari'es, Community Interest Companies (CICs), Charitable Incorporated Organisa'ons (CIOs, SCIOs) social enterprises, and other not-for-profit community organisa'ons. Government Launches Turing Scheme Website - Applicants Advised to Prepare Bids Now The Government has launched the Turing Scheme website to help educa'on providers prepare their bids for when the applica'on window opens in March. Announced in December 2020, the new £110 million Turing scheme will support UK students to take advantage of the benefits of studying and working abroad from September 2021. The scheme will look to target students from disadvantaged backgrounds. To help universi'es, colleges and schools to prepare for bids to open in a few weeks, the scheme has launched a new website with funding and eligibility guidance.

Funding opportuni'es are available for UK organisa'ons in these sectors: • Higher educa'on (HE) • Further educa'on (FE) and voca'onal educa'on and training (VET) • Schools.

Eligible organisa'ons can apply for funding for projects that offer the opportunity to study or gain work experience abroad for the 2021-22 academic year. This funding allows organisa'ons to provide students, learners and pupils with the chance to develop new skills, gain vital interna'onal experience and boost their employability. They can also develop a wide range of sof skills, language skills and a be,er understanding of other cultures. Eligible UK organisa2ons will be able to apply for funding from March 2021. The applica2on window will be open for six weeks. It is expected that funding decisions will be issued in July. h,ps://www.turing-scheme.org.uk/

4. ESFA Community Training Grants (next deadline is 15 March) ESFA grants are aimed at projects helping people to improve their employment prospects. Grants of £5,000 - £20,000 are available for Dorset projects which help move individuals either into employment, or establish a route towards employment.

5. Green Match Funding – Closing date 5 March Go to: h,ps://www.thebiggive.org.uk/s/green-match-fund The Green Match Fund is a match funding campaign for chari'es which are working on environmental issues as part of their core mission. All public dona'ons made to par'cipa'ng chari'es via theBigGive.org.uk during the week of the campaign (22-29 April) will be matched up to a specific amount. Each par'cipa'ng charity will be awarded a ring-fenced amount of match funding which will be used to match public dona'ons - either £2,500, £10,000 or £25,000. Which chari2es are eligible?

• Chari'es which are working on environmental issues as part of their core mission This may include: biodiversity & conserva'on; climate change; agriculture & food; sustainable communi'es; energy; transport; trade & finance; consump'on & waste; toxics & pollu'on. Chari'es may be working in the UK or overseas.

• UK-registered chari'es with at least one year of filed accounts and an annual income of at least £25,000 (as per last filed accounts), or organisa'ons with tax exempt status for charitable purposes.

• Chari'es which are registered on theBigGive.org.uk (free to register). • Chari'es seeking to raise either £2,500, £10,000 or £25,000 in public dona'ons (to be doubled by

the match funds). Chari'es are able to use the campaign to raise unrestricted funds.
