ROAD CLOSINGSSecond Street will be closed to traffic from Liberty Street to Center Street at 9:30 am. Both Seconds and Third Streets, from Omar Street to Alder Street, will be closed to all vehicles at 11 am. Traffic needing to bypass Oak-land will be directed to detour along Fourth Street until the parade ends. Center Street will remain open until 12:45 pm. Memorial Drive also will be closed to through traffic from Fourth to Eighth Street. No one will be able to turn onto Fourth Street from Memorial Drive and there will be no access onto Memorial Drive from Fourth to Eighth Streets. Parking along the parade route, which includes parts of Second, Third & Alder streets, is prohibited prior to and during the parade.Please note this major change this year: when dropping off passen-gers after you go through the parade, to avoid any accidents, you must drop off your passengers in a parking lot past Lake Street. You cannot stop on the north-bound side of Rt. 219 to drop off passengers. This policy will be strictly enforced this year.

King & Queen

The 2015 Autumn Glory Royalty Court has been selected for the 48th Annual Autumn Glory Festival. This year’s King is Devan Hamrick and the Queen is Marley Merrick.

Devan is involved in theater, Southern Garrett Soccer and the Southern Garrett Cross Country and Wrestling teams, where he earned State Titles. Devan is the first student in Southern Garrett High School history to win two State Titles in two sports in the same academic school year.

Marley participates in Southern Varsity Soccer and Track and serves as 2016 Class Vice President and is also a member of the National Honor Society. Marley also volunteers with Garrett County Gives, and Broken Road Associates, among others.

The Autumn Glory King & Queen will be present at the Autumn Glory Kick-Off Reception to be held at Wisp Resort on Wednesday, October 7 and they will be featured in the Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade on Saturday, October 10. Besides having the honor of representing their home county during the Autumn Glory Festival and at other events, the Royalty Court will receive scholarship funds.

Fall Foliage Heritage Tour Highlights include:Several Barn Quilts, Friend’s Store, Cranesville Swamp, Swallow Falls State Park, Fork Run Recreation Area, and Maryland Scenic Byways.

Brief Directions: (25 miles, approx. 54 min)

The tour begins at the Garrett County Visitors Center located at 15 Visitors Center Drive in McHenry, MD and continues left onto US 219 (Garrett Highway). Turn left onto Sang Run Rd. Take a sharp left to continue on Sang Run Rd. Turn left onto Cranesville Rd. Turn right onto Lake Ford Rd, entering West Virginia. Continue onto Burnside Camp. Continue straight onto Feather Rd. Turn right onto Cranesville Swamp. Return to Cranesville Rd and turn right. Turn left onto Swallow Falls Rd. Turn left onto Maple Glade Rd. Return to Swallow Falls Rd and turn left. Turn left on Oakland Sang Run Rd. Make a slight left to stay on Oakland Sang Run Rd. Turn right onto Shingle Camp Rd and then turn left onto Fork Run. Return to Shingle Camp Rd and then turn right. Turn right onto Oakland Sang Run Rd. Turn right onto Hoyes Run Rd. Turn right onto Sang Run Rd. Turn right onto Garrett Highway (Rt. 219 South). Turn right onto Visitors Center Drive returning to the Garrett County Visitors Center.

The tour begins at the Garrett County Visitors Center located at 15 Visitors Center Drive in McHenry, MD and continues right onto US 219 (Garrett Highway). Turn left into Market Square Shopping Center. Turn left onto US 219 (Garrett Highway). Turn right onto E Oak st/Rt. 39. Turn right at stoplight onto S 2nd St. Turn left into the Oakland Town Parking Lot. Turn right onto MD-39 W. Make a slight left onto Old Crellin Rd. Turn left onto Underwood Rd. Turn right onto Wes White Rd. Turn right onto US-219, entering West Virginia. Return to MD, traveling US-219. Turn right onto Mason School Rd. Continue on Pleasant Valley Rd, then turning left to continue on Pleasant Valley Rd. Turn right onto Lynndale Rd, which turns into Smouse Rd. Continue onto Roanake Ave, turning left on Powhatan t. Turn right onto Bonnie Blvd. Continue on Bonnie Blvd which turns into W. 3rd Ave. Turn left onto Rt. 560/Gorman St. and travel to the stoplight. Turn right onto MD-135 E. Turn left onto Glass Drive. Return to MD-135 E. Turn left onto Broadford Rd. Turn right onto Kings Run Road. Turn right onto US-219 North. Turn left onto Visitors Center Drive returning to the Garrett County Visitors Center.
