Who does your support help?

China TrekHighlights of your time in China include a trip to the amazing Forbidden City, an overnight stay with a family in a Huangyaguan village and a zip slide across Lake Simatei. The trip follows the Great Wall, starting in Bejing and ending in Mutlanya, while making stops at various traditional towns and villages to absorb the values and customs of the country.

Amazing landscapes

Meet Abby Tombs – one of our heroic young fundraisersAbby Tombs has fought for survival since birth. She was born 12 weeks prematurely and was diagnosed with lupus three years ago. She endured seven months of chemotherapy to kill the cells attacking her kidneys and will need to take steroids for the rest of her life. Her illness prevents her from joining in with activities that other 11-year-olds enjoy – she can’t even go to school – but this hasn’t stopped her helping us to raise life-saving funds. This brave little girl stands outside Tesco to collect donations and encourage support. So far, Abby has helped us to raise an incredible £10,000 and has been nominated for a Bighearted Scotland Award 2009. She wants to raise essential funds for research to help children with chronic kidney disease, children like her.

Ben Nevis ChallengeThe Ben Nevis walk is one of our most popular annual events. This year we reached a record number of participants – 300 in fact! It is always a sell-out event, so register your interest with us now in order to have the best chance of joining our 2010 team.

Its popularity is attributed to the great weekend it off ers. Reaching the picturesque peak of Ben Nevis is a lifetime goal for many people. The spectacular views of the Scottish Highlands and the sense of achievement gained with the rest of the group is astounding. When you return back to Glen Nevis, a celebratory party is provided to top off this weekend of fun.

The ascent of this walking event suits most people of average fi tness and stamina and our events team will be on hand to support you all the way. Training and a pair of a comfortable walking boots are recommended to help you enjoy the challenge so much more!

Peru TrekThis trek through Peru gives you a chance to explore snow-capped mountains, tropical rainforests and plunging canyons. You will travel on the jewel of the Inca Trail to the majestic and mysterious citadel of Machu Picchu.

Kilimanjaro TrekOnce arriving in Kilimanjaro, you will trek for seven days along the Manchame route which gives you the chance to set eyes on many must-see spectacles including the Shira Caves, the Lava Tower, the massive ravine of Great Barranco and the Heim and Kersten glaciers.

Our overseas challenges take you off the beaten track and let you

experience the culture of another country which you wouldn’t see as a

tourist. These special trips let you get a real sense of the everyday lives of

the people who live there and a chance to witness the awesome landscapes

of some of the most beautiful places in the world.

Well worth it!Fantastic support!

...awesome! Louise’s storyLouise Edge’s husband was diagnosed at 22-years-old with chronic renal failure. His condition deteriorated for six years when he was required to go on dialysis three times a day for seven years. Eventually, a donor was found and after a few problems with rejection, he has a new lease of life with lots more energy.

Louise was always upset and worried for her husband after witnessing how chronic kidney disease aff ected him. She decided to take up the challenge of a sky dive to raise funds for essential, life-saving research highlighted by the debilitating illness he endured for so many years.
