EVERY BELIEVERAND THE ANOINTING

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

1.DAVID TESTIFIED ABOUT THE ANOINTING Psalm 23:5 (ESV)

To testify about the anointingis to know, believe, receive,

live by the anointing and tell other people about it.

13 So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

A. FIRSTLY, DAVID WAS ANOINTED KING BY PROPHET SAMUEL

1 Samuel 16:13 (NLT)

David never asked God to anoint him.The anointing is a confirmation of God’s provision

for David whom God called to serve him.

B.SECONDLY, DAVID WAS ANOINTED KING BY MEN OF JUDAH

2 Samuel 2:3-4 (NIV)

4 Then the men of Judah came to Hebron, and there they anointedDavid king over the tribe of Judah.

3 David also took the men who were with him, each with his family, and they settled in Hebron and its towns.

With the second anointing God confirmed his calling David

to be king over the tribe of Judah.

3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.

C.THIRDLY, DAVID WAS ANOINTED KING BY ALL THE ELDERS OF ISRAEL

2 Samuel 5:3 (ESV)

With the third anointing God confirmed his calling David

to be king over Israel.

2.DAVID HAD ALL THE THREEFOLD ANOINTING In the Old Covenant

Moses had only the prophetic anointing,Aaron only the priestly anointing,

and Saul only the kingly anointing.

David means BelovedDavid is the type ( shadow) of Christwho has all the fullness of the anointing. David was the only person in the Old Covenant who was anointed three times.

22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove;

and a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son;

with you I am well pleased."

A.CHRIST IS GOD’S BELOVED SON Luke 3:22; Mark 9:7 (ESV)

25 As indeed he says in Hosea, "Those who were not my people I will call 'my people,' and her who was not beloved I will call 'beloved.'"

B.WE ARE GOD’S BELOVED SONS IN CHRIST Romans 9:25-26 (ESV)

26 "And in the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' there they will be called'sons of the living God.'"

3. THE CHURCH HAS THE FULLNESS OF THE ANOINTING

10 and you have been given fullness in Christ,who is the head over every power and authority.

Colossians 2:10 (NIV)

22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.

Ephesians 1:22-23 (NLT)

23 And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ,who fills all things everywhere with Himself.

A.CHRIST HAS THE FULLNESS OF THE ANOINTING

“Christ”means “the Anointed One”.Christ has all the fullness of God including the fullness of the threefold anointing: the kingly anointing, the prophetic anointing, and the priestly anointing.

9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of Godin a human body.

Colossians 2:9 (NLT)

B.WE HAVE THE FULLNESS OF THE ANOINTING

21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us,

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (ESV)

22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our heartsas a guarantee.

As we are established in Christ, we have all the fullness of God

including the fullness of the anointing.

As we are established in Christ,we have all the fullness of the threefold anointing:

the kingly anointing, the prophetic anointing,and the priestly anointing.

1 John 2:27 (ESV) 27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

C. THE ANOINTING IS THE HOLY SPIRIT HIMSELF

1 John 2:27 (NLT) 27 But you have received the Holy Spirit,and He lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true.

The Anointing is the Holy Spirit Himself.Every believer has the fullness of the Holy Spirit,

but not many believers rely on and live by the Spirit.

For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what He teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as He has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

“The Anointing”is the outpouring and the manifestation of the presence of the Holy Spirit, the glory of the Holy Spirit, the power of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the revelation of the Holy Spirit, the leading of the Holy Spirit, and the fruit of the Holy Spiritupon an ordinary person whom God called in order to equip him for effective ministry.The anointing is an act of God’s grace to make an unworthy person worthy of God’s calling.

Ministers of an Old Covenant live by the letterThey are not as competent as

Ministers of a New Covenant who live by the Spirit.The letter (the Law—Demanding) kills,

but the Spirit (God’s Grace—Providing) gives life.

6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit;for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

7 But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

“My cup overflows”My faith, speech, knowledge, earnestness,

my Love for God’s ministers, and the grace of giving are enriched by the Anointing

(the manifestation of the presence, the glory, the power, the gifts, the revelation, the leading, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit).

A. THE PRESENCE OF THE SPIRIT ANOINTS US FOR ETERNAL SALVATION

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,for you are with me;

your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the LORDforever.

22 The glory that you have given meI have given to them,

that they may be one even as we are one,

18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,

are being transformed into the same imagefrom one degree of glory to another.

For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

B. THE GLORY OF THE SPIRIT ANOINTS US FOR CHRIST-LIKE TRANSFORMATION

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,

and you will be my witnessesin Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria,

and to the end of the earth."

C. THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT ANOINTS US FOR WORLDWIDE WITNESSING

Christ’s Witnesseshear of Christ, know him, believe in him,

abide in him, and testify to the gospel of Christ.

Christ’s Witnesses have the power and the authority to testify to the Gospel of Christin Jerusalem (our town, village)

and in all Judea (our country)and Samaria (our neighbouring ethnic)

and to the end of the earth (unreached nations).

4 Now there are varieties of gifts,but the same Spirit;

5 and there are varieties of service,but the same Lord;

6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God

who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit

for the common good.

D. THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT ANOINTS US FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,

may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,

18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened,that you may know what is the hope

to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance

in the saints,

E. THE REVELATION OF THE SPIRIT ANOINTS US FOR THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit,

and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh,

for these are opposed to each other, to keep you

from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit,

you are not under the law.

F. THE LEADING OF THE SPIRIT ANOINTS US FOR FREEDOM FROM THE LAW

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,

kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control;

against such things there is no law.

G. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT ANOINTS US FOR WORLDCLASS CHARACTER

The Outpouring of the Anointingis a confirmation of God’s provision

for everyone whom he called to serve in the kingdom of God.

The Manifestation of the Anointingis the result of

someone’s relying on and living bythe presence of the Spirit for his salvation,

the glory of the Spirit for his transformation,the power of the Spirit for his testimony,

the gifts of the Spirit for his service,the revelation of the Spirit for his knowledge,

the leading of the Spirit for his freedom,and the fruit of the Spirit for his character.
