W elcome to the Lyceum, and the penultimate show of our 2009/10 Season. Jo Clifford’s playwriting is marked by a relationship with
her work that is intensely personal alongside a sophisticated, theatricallanguage that is both surprising and original.
I believe Jo’s story captures something of the essence of the human condition – through the myriad emotions stirred by the death of a family member, an experience which unites us all at some point in life. It is not for nothing that this play is given the title Every One.
I hope this story of one family and their reflections on grief and the value of life will touch, inspire and uplift you. Whatever you take from the play, and however it affects you, I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed producing it.
