The Carver County Explor-ers Post received third place for the “Hostage Negotiations” competition at the 37th Annual Explorers Conference held in Rochester in late April.
The Carver County Post was represented by seven Explorers who attended this year’s conference. The Carver County teams each competed in several competitions and attended several academic sessions throughout the week-end.
The Explorers is a group, ages 15 to 21, who have an interest in law enforcement re-lated activities. The Explorers provide assistance at accident scenes, National Night Out, the Carver County Fair, city and countywide events and any-where that staffing is needed to assist the public.
The Explorers also act as role players for training and assist with alcohol and to-bacco compliance checks. “Our Explorers are a shining example of the great young adults in our county” stated
Sheriff Jim Olson, in a press release. “We are very proud of our Explorers and their award.”
The Carver County Ex-plorers meet for training ev-
ery other week at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Victoria Fire Station, and also participate in a Statewide fall and spring conference/training.
