Have you ever worried about having enough food?
RECALL a story when you had a need in your family? Share the story with your group.
ASK: “How many of you have an unmet need in your life?”
Is it easier to trust God or easier to worry? Why?
Look up Philippians 4:19
ASK: “If God always meets our needs, why don’t we get everything we ask for?”
CREATE A LIST. On one side of the list write NEEDS on the other side of the list write WANTS. Brainstorm as many needs and wants as you can. See if your group can list more than 7 things for each list.
Is there anything in your life you don’t think God will provide?
As a group, list out all of the things you are thankful for.
Put hand motions to this week’s Compass Point. “God is up to the task. All you need to do is ask.” Pass out the prayer cards and ask your group to write down the commitment they made so you can pray for them this week.

will understand and remember. When telling the story, remember you are painting a
picture for your viewers. Have fun and explore your creativity. Here are some ideasto make your storytelling more memorable:
- Use Props: 5 loaves of bread, 2 fish, blanket to eat on
- Invite kids to be the characters in the story: Jesus, the crowd, the disciples- Try asking the kids, “How was everyone fed with just 5 loaves and 2 fish?” and
“Do you think God can still do miracles and provide the things that we need?”
Jesus Feeds Thousands(Matthew 14:13-21)
Jesus heard what had happened to John. He wanted to be alone. So He went in a
boat to a quiet place. The crowds heard about this. They followed Him on foot fromthe towns. When Jesus came ashore, He saw a large crowd. He felt deep concern for
2
them. He healed their sick people. When it was almost evening, the disciples came
to Him. “There is nothing here,” they said. “It’s already getting late. Send the crowds
away. They can go and buy some food in the villages.”
Jesus replied, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
“We have only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
“Bring them here to me”, Jesus said. Then Jesus directed the people to sit down on
the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish. He looked up to heaven and gave
thanks. He broke the loaves into pieces. Then He gave them to the disciples. Andthe disciples gave them to the people.
All of them ate and were satisfied. The disciples picked up 12 baskets of leftover
pieces. About 5000 people ate that day.
