Case Study

University of New Hampshire

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) is a land, sea, and space grant, public four-year university serving more than 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students. As the largest university in the state, UNH offers more than 100 majors and its programs span two campuses in Durham and Manchester, New Hampshire. The university’s course catalog includes traditional in-class lectures, online and hybrid courses.

The Search for the Best Lecture Capture SolutionIn order to provide UNH students with improved access to classroom content, UNH began evaluating lecture capture solutions. The university was also interested in using lecture capture for its summer course offerings. Many UNH students take advantage of summer courses to make up classes, refresh semester learnings or take classes that wouldn’t otherwise fit in their schedule. UNH saw lecture capture as a unique tool that would allow the university to offer students its summer course catalog virtually.

UNH faculty used a variety of tools including lecture capture solutions supported in a pilot program to deliver online courses. In planning for a long-term expanded online course strategy, UNH IT Academic Technology decided to step back and investigate the lecture capture market place further. They needed a solution that was robust and offered a comprehensive set of features for both instructors and students. They wanted a flexible solution that would work for faculty teaching in classrooms as well as from their home/offices.

A cohort of more than 100 faculty and 15 Academic Technology staff evaluated 14 different lecture capture solutions and found that Tegrity fit the bill for the features UNH needed most. UNH faculty particularly favored the simplicity of the Tegrity platform and the variety of features within the platform such as searchable content, bookmarking and CASE STUDY - PAGE 1
