PRESENTATION OF THE CIFOP AND EMCA (HOSTING ORGANISATION)

Campus CIFOP is a vocational training centre which welcomes more than 4000 students in the area of Angoulême. We provide various quality training services for a wide public: young people, employees, job seekers. We are convinced that everyone can find a suitable training to develop their professional skills in the best manner.

Our Campus includes several schools and institutes in various training fields, at the main CIFOP campus and also in Angoulême city center:

• Commerce Department & Services: initial training up to bachelor’s degree in the areas of trade, management, accounting, catering industry, etc.

• Industry department: initial training up to engineering degree in the fields of industry, printing, packaging, automobile etc.

• Media department, EMCA: initial and ongoing training in the field of animation.

• Department Enterprise & Skills: continuing adult education and language training centre.

The campus CIFOP has 30,000 m² of meeting and workshops rooms, a documentation centre and Resources (CDR), a gymnasium of 3000 m² and 200 single rooms. We also offer additional services such as a cafeteria, a boarding school and sports centre.

Our staff is composed of 140 persons, both teachers and technical staff. All our educators and students have the support of the social workers of our school who animate additional informal learning activities. We are used to working closely with young people and we therefore know their concerns and problems.

For many years now, Campus CIFOP has been welcoming foreign students for language classes and internships at our center. We are very familiar with hosting young students from abroad who do not speak the French language yet and we know how to integrate them into our daily school life.

We hosted EVS volunteers in 2015, 2016 and 2017. This positive experiences has encouraged us to continue with the EVS programme and to extend our offer to four EVS positions in 2018-2019.

The EMCA is located near the river Charente, just at the foot of the city center of Angoulême. The aim of EMCA is preparing students for professions in animation films. The students learn how to use digital and traditional tools in the best way in order to create great cartoons. They direct short movies and develop their creativity and sensitivity : the training encourages them to find their own way of expression. In this way, EMCA offers students the best conditions to access the professional environment.

Angoulême is a lovely city of 40.000 inhabitants, in southwestern France. Located on a rocky spur, the city is overlooking a meander of the Charente, a beautiful and natural river. The town’s nickname is the "balcony of the southwest".

Angoulême was a fortified and important town for a long time, and it inherited from its tumultuous past a large historical, religious and urban heritage which attracts a lot of tourists.

Nowadays, Angoulême is at the centre of an agglomeration of 140 000 inhabitants. It has a vibrant cultural life, dominated by the Angoulême International Comics Festival, which is a very big event happening at the end of January every year. Angoulême is also famous for its walls painted with images from comics and graphic novels.

Angoulême city center is 25-30 minutes by bus from the Campus CIFOP, with departure every 10-15 minutes. There, you will be able to find everything you need, and it’s also a very nice place to hang around and have a drink.

If you want to travel a little more, Bordeaux, one of the most beautiful cities in France, is only 40 minutes by train. The Atlantic Ocean is not far away : you can reach Royan in less than 2 hours by car.
