How To Populate Data Among 3 FilesUsing Drop-down Validation In OneFile - Excel

Excel Forum

Dear All,

I would like to populate data from 1st File(Name:-Master Data) to the 2nd File(Name:-Calculator) using validationlist in the 2nd file in such a way that once the Incentive Calculation is done for any store the same data should getpopulated to the 3rd File(Nameay Out) automatically without manual copying & pasting.

Is it possible to do?

I will explain in details:-

1)Master Data File(1st File):-Contains all the relevant raw data for incentive calculation.

2)Calculator File(2nd File):-Contains a drop-down validation in cell D4(in the sheet Named:-Hyper) and this drop-down contains the list of the stores starting from H001 to H032. I have got the Sumproduct formula to link Master Data File & Calculator File via this Drop-Down list which is yielding the Incentive Amount.

3)PayOut File(3rd File):-This is the where the storewise Incentive amount should finally be stored. I need help inkeeping the respective storewise Incentive amount to respective locations even though different store is selectedin the Drop Down Validation in the Calculator File.

I will share a small data pertaining to 2nd File(Name:-Calculator) & 3rd File(Nameay-Out) to further explain of what result is expected.

The following figure shows the results of H012 store(when selected via the Drop-Down validation):-File Name:-Calculator.xls(Sheet Name:-Hyper)

Drop-Down List(=D4)Contains the Store names & links the Calculator File & Master Data File.

Ranking Results - Excel

I am working on an individual scorecard that will be used to show an employee where they stood for any givenmonth as far as their goals go. It will also show them their bonus pay out amount.

I am running into an issue with the "Individual Achievement Score" section. Their goals are such that if they do notmeet at least 90% quality they do not bonus out. The formula currently is=ROUNDDOWN((AVERAGE(B3,B7)*100),0). How can I include the quality being less than 90% in there (that isrepresented by B7)?

The other issue is that when they achieve a weighted individual achievement above 120% they get an additionalpayout per percentage over 120%. I need the formula to reflect when they do not go over 120% - currently isshows a negative there. I need the math to not happen at all in this case when a score of over 120% does notexist. The formula currently is: =((B18)*18.75)

Here is the sheet:Production Goal 60 Decisions Made 66 Performance to Goal 1.10 % Quality Goal 90 Individual Quality Score 69Performance to Goal 0.77 % Individual Achievement Score 93 % Individual Tier 1 Tier 1 Base = $2250.00 Tier 2Base = $1575.00 Team Performance to Goal Average of Individual Team Scores Individual and Team Tier 11Tier 1 = > 100% Tier 2 = 0-99.9% Individual Incentive $2,250.00 Weighted Individual Achievment 93 % WeightedIndividual Achievment above 120% -27 % Additional Incentive ($506.25) Final Incentive $1,743.75 LOA?Disqualified?

Thank you much in advance for any help!

I have three results for a quarter :

ABC 200, 267, 300BFG 200, 189, 145

AWV 235, 267, 400

Lets say these are in cells B1, C1 and D1. I need a formula that says if none of these results exceeds 200 thenthe result in E1 should be " Incentive -1"

Alternatively is none of the results exceed 300 ( minor incentive) the result in E1 is "Incentive 2"

The opposite of incentive is corrective action so we also need a third condition where if any result exceeds 375 itis flagged in E1 as "CAR"

Finally we want to add conditional formatting so that "incentive -1" is blue, "Incentive -2" is yellow and "CAR" isred.

Sometimes even after you have solved the problem your audience still are not satisfied. Previously we used:

=IF(COUNT(AA2:AC2)=3,IF(OR(AA2>15000,AB2>15000,AC2>15000),IF(OR(AA2>20000,AB2>20000,AC2>2000-2"),"Incentive -1"),"Insufficient Data")

to look at a result for each month of test results in a quarter and to:1) give an incentive payment is the target was reached -Incentive-12) give an encouragement payment if an intermediate target was reached, Incentive-23) issue a CAR or corrective action request for a failing result4) issue a " comment for a result close to the encouragement payment.5) indicate insufficient data or no payment if there were less than 3 test results

Item 5 was rejected and in its place we want to say that if for a given quarter you have less than 3 results ( occurs< 5% of the time and typically only 1 result is missing - we want to calculate the payment - may still be incentive -1or incentive-2- based on the average of the last 12 available results.

Meaning if we had 2 results for this quarter we would look back and capture the prior 1o take the average of the12 and decide on payment relative to the target value of 15000 ( incentive-1) and 20,000 ( incentive-2). No CARor comment component is needed for this last twist.

So in lieu of " insufficient data" I want to say if less than 3 results average the last 12 results and apply the samemeans test to determine if payment is incentive -1 or incentive-2 . Average >= 15,000 = incentive -1. Average>15,000 but less than or = to 20000= incentive-2

Trust me I tried it on my own trying to write replacement code at the "insufficient data" statement of the IF formulabut I could not get it.

I have a current pivot in Excel 2003.

Table details Individual names in Rows and data comprises "count" no of sales, "sum" of achievement andindividuals monthly target.

The target Data is an "average" as the sheet that feeds the pivot auto populates the target against product

identifiers etc.

What I am trying to do is enter a calculated field = achievement/target, however the result appears to returnachievement against total target as opposed to achievement against average target.

Is there anyway to overcome this?

Ask Your Own Question

Excel Forum

Hi,

I am by no means an Excel expert. I am working with some salesperson commission spreadsheets that I've

cleaned up, but whose formulas were written by someone no longer with the company.I have found an error in a calculation. I am attaching to this a blank copy of the spreadsheet to show the problem.

1. Each salesperson is giving a sales goal. (C12)

2. They are paid a flat bonus depending on their achievement to that goal (L16) That lookup works fine.

3. We also keep track of the cash receipts from their accounts each month and they are paid a percentage of cash receipts as part of their bonus, HOWEVER, the percentage paid is based on #2, their achievementpercentage to goal.

4. SO, when I key their sales into C12 and it calculates what percentage of goal they reached in H16 it SHOULDthen drop the cash receipts number in C13 down into the table (A) titled "Incentive Payment" (bottom left) in theproper spot based on percentage to goal in the table just above where it reads "Based on Sales".

5. However, as you can see by this example spreadsheet, this person had a goal of $21,000 they sold $21,000 sothat is 100% of goal. They had $18,000 in cash receipts. Therefore, that $18,000 should drop into the table belowin the "$20,000 - $25,000" line (D32) and be paid at 3.5% and that number ends up in L12. If they had sold$25,000 the $18,000 would be paid at 4% and should drop down to D33.

Clearly, the cash receipts number is not being dropped into the right spot on the Incentive Payment table. But, to

be honest, I'm not seeing anything in the formula that would lookup what percentage it should be paid at and tell itwhere to land in the table. End result, you end up paying a salesperson the wrong percentage of manually typingtheir cash receipts number into the table in the right spot based on their sales.

I hope I made this clear. I try to explain without going overboard. I am so lost as to how to fix this and, yes, wehave caught errors luckily before anyone was paid incorrectly.

Does anyone know how to set this up correctly so it does what it should?

My deepest thanks! (In advance)

The above is the original tread. I am trying to tweak the IF statement so that the formula:

1) looks for three (3) results in current quarter 2) if 3 results are found it checks to see if any result has exceeded the Target amount of 15,000 Max or alternatetarget of 20,000 max3) If the target has not been exceeded it returns " incentive -1 , if the alternate has not been exceeded it returnsincentive-24) as per step 2 it also checks to see if a high value has exceeded 25000 and if it has it returns "CAR" if not itreturns "Comment"5) The change is that if at step 1 there are less than 3 results for the quarter, it pulls the last 12 results available

and determines if the answer shoulld be incentive -1 or incentive -2

This change allows the system to make a payment to a participant if 1 or more results are missing for the givenquarter , provided the long term record is good. The existing formula will not pay for less than 3 results in thecurrent quarter

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm working on a spreadsheet for performance reviews.

Managers need to provide each employee a Rating. These ratings are alphanumeric. The next column is anincentive variable which managers need to provide and the values are in the pull down menu. I need to set adefault so the maximum incentive variable applies.

Grade: 1AIncentive Variables: 1.5, 1.49, 1.48, 1.47, 1.46 .... 1.25 ----- default would be 1.5

Grade: 1BIncentive Variables: 1.25,1.24, 1.23, 1.22 .... 1.15 ----- default would be 1.25

However, if an employee's incentive category (note not variable) is quarterly customer service bonus, or businessperformance bonus, then they can still add in a grade, but the incentive variable and status needs to be 'noteligible'.

How do I go about adding a default and automatically change the variables for QCSB to Not eligible?

There's about 10 different grades and there's about 15 different incentive categories.

Cell A92 is my key. If that cell is a zero I want a sum of only cells A26, A34 and A51.

If Cell A92 has a figure, let's say $50, then I want a sum of A26, A34, A51, A92, A154 and A170.

I initially wrote my formula as:

=if(A92=0,sum(A26,A34,A51,if A92>1,sum(A26,A34,A51,A92,A154,A170)))

Works great if if I have a zero in A92...but if I have money in A92 I get a false.

So what am I missing ?????

I'm working on this and as simple as it is, I'm having a major brain fart tonight and forgetting all my education onthis from school.Basically what I am wanting to do, is be able to put in last years sales under the LY column (example attached)and have the incentive structure auto calculate what the potential bonus would be if a 5% increase is met, 10%,15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. The way this works is noted above PLUS 1/4% of total sales. (.25% of total sales, not25%).So between 25k and 50k with a 10% increase would result in .25% of total sales plus $150.

Anybody who could get me on my way, it would be greatly appreciated!I usually love doing this stuff but for some reason, I'm drawing blanks tonight. This old age stuff is for the birds!

I have just been tasked with keeping track of an employee sales

incentive at my workplace.

I have no idea how to implement this in excel without tracking the numbers manually, but there are over 50employees and would prefer a more automated process.

This employee incentive works like so:

The employees have a starting sales target. If the income of a following week is greater than the starting target, that number becomes their current target.

ie. Paul's goal is 500$, one week he sells $400 and doesn't meet his target. The next week he sells 505$, so hehas beaten his target, and 505$ is his new target.

On every 5th target beaten, they receive a bonus on their pay cheques.

Hopefully that is understandable.

Dear all

My company is selling software subscribtions. The incentive model was so far to calculate the basis for bonus tothe sales people, as the revenue for the rest of the calender year on the subscribtion.

The subsribtion generates a revenue of $100/month. If the sales person sell the subscribtion i january the basis of the bonus calculation is 12*100. If the the sales person sell the subscribtion in october the basis of the bonuscalculation is 2*100.

The hatch here is off cause that the sales people will try to delay sales in the last months of the year into nextyear for maximization of total bonus amount

What I want to do is to make a bonus model in excel that encourage sales as fast as possible no matter themonth of the year. I am thinking of af exponential decreasing function a bit like the one in the attached sheet. It'sdependent of the period. I use the PPMT function. Ex. In the attached sheet if a sale is made in october it willresult in a basis of bonus calculation of $200. If I use the PPMT function the basis of bonus calculation is $ 598,which fulfill my purpose. The only problem is that my use of the PPMT function doesn't sum up to 12*100=1200.

Any suggestions?
