Effectivewritinginstructorassists students with the challengesofwritingandwrittenassignments(essays)attheuniversitylevel.Individualappointmentsareprovided.

The Write Place offerspeertutors to assist students with writingandresearching.ESLassistance and resources are available for students for whom English is a second language.

Tutoring(peerandprofessional)isavailableto students registered in Mathematics,EconomicsandFrench.

KAMP King’s Academic Mentoring Program (KAMP) isdesignedtoaddresseveryaspectofourstudents’interactionwithourcommunitytomaximizetheirlikelihood of academic and personalsuccess.Thisinvolvesmentoring students on issues rangingfrombasiclifeskills,totherhythmofstudentlifeand the various academic checkpointsandmilestonesthattheywillencounter.Mentorsalsoprovideguidanceonhowtosuccessfullytransfertouniversityfromhighschool.Conceived as a student run mentoringprogramhousedundertheauspicesoftheVicePrincipalAcademic,itisdesignedtoenticeexemplarystudentstoseekopportunitiesofvolunteerismatKing’s.Itprovidesanopportunityforsenior students to give back totheKing’scommunityandguideyoungerstudentsintheirjourneythroughacademia.

ComputingfacilitiesTheStudentComputerLabatKing’sconsistsof18networkedworkstationsofferingscanning,CDburning,thelatestsoftwarepackagessuchasMicrosoftOffice,SPSSandmore.Allworkstationsofferprintingfacilitiesand full access to the Internet fore-mailandbrowsing,andthelabisopentostudents24hoursperday.Thestudentlabisconfiguredforsimultaneous individual work and relaxedgroupcollaboration.TheInstructionalComputerLabatKing’scontains30workstationsandmaybereservedforanyinstructionaluse.TheCardinalCarterLibraryatKing’scontainsover60studentworkstationsforaccesstotheInternet,wordprocessing,andlibrarycatalogues.Computerlabsandworkroomsarealso available across the Western campusofferingavarietyofapplicationsincludingInternetaccessfore-mailandwebbrowsing,wordprocessing,spreadsheets,andprintingfacilities.

TheKing’sInternationalBridgingProgram,whichtakesplacefromWednesdayAugust31toSunday,September4,2016providesanopportunitytogettoknowtheKing’sandWesterncampuses,theCityofLondonandKing’sstudentsandstaffbeforethearrivalofmanyCanadianstudents.Inaddition,theBridgingProgramprovidesacombinationofacademicorientation,practicalorientationandsocialopportunitiestomakenewfriends(fun)!

TheACADEMICfocusisstrongwithasessiononAcademicSuccesswiththeAssociateAcademicDean,aWritingWorkshop,aMathExercise(forthosestudentsinterestedinprogramswhichrequiremath),aLibraryOrientation,andanacademiccounsellingappointmenttofinalizeanydetailsofcourseregistration.

ThePRACTICALfocusincludes:settingupbankaccounts,anopportunitytopurchasebooksandsupplies,organizinghealthinsurance,activatingyourWesternemailaccount,gettingyourstudentIDcardandexploringtheKing’sandWesterncampuses.Therearevarioussessionsonstudentservices,cultureandfinancialissues.

TheFUNincludes:bonfire,shoppingtrips,aDinnerBanquet,andanexcursiontoNiagaraFalls.Thisprogramishighlyrecommendedandisavailabletobothstudentsandparents.Thecostis$495.00forstudents,whichincludesallsessions,activities,foodand

residenceaccommodation(ifrequired).Thecostperparentis$150.00whichincludesallsessions,activitiesandfood.Parentsmustmaketheirownaccommodationarrangementsasresidencespaceisreservedforincomingstudents.Westronglyencourageeveryonetoparticipate!
