THE WEST MILL VENUEThe West Mill is a unique wedding venue set in a Grade I Listed, former cotton spinning mill. Dating back to the early 1800’s, the building played an important part in the history of the industrial revolution. Having laid empty and derelict for many years the building was lovingly restored back to life and opened in 2015.

The renovation has retained the industrial architecture of the 1800’s, including; barrel vaulted ceilings; exposed brick walls ; cast iron columns and beams.

Occupying a superb setting on the banks of the River Derwent and the historic weir, The West Mill is licensed for civil weddings and wedding receptions.

THE COTTON QUARTEROur South facing ceremony room makes the most of the natural daylight through the Georgian paned windows. Retaining the full character of its past the ceremony room wows with warmth, atmosphere and original features; blue brick tiled �oors; cast iron ceiling and soft vintage lighting . Look out for hidden gems such as gra�ti etched in to glass panes by millworkers from as long ago as 1856.

Make the most of the room’s gorgeous accoustics with a pianist on our very own baby grand piano or, make use of our sound system and have your own choice of ceremony music

The Cotton Quarter is the main room licensed for Civil Ceremonies with seating for up to 160 guests.

THE DRESSING ROOMOur stylish dressing room is your private space to relax and get ready ahead of your ceremony. Furnished with a bespoke dressing table and chairs, arm chair and chaise longue, full length mirrors, shower room withfresh linen, tea and co�ee making facilities,champagne glasses and an iPod docking station for your music.

This stunning dressing room is available to be used from 11am on the morning of your wedding day and throughout the day.

Your guests will enter The West Mill through The Gallery, our ground �oor reception area, a wonderful space for your guests to arrive and relax.

The Gallery embraces the mill’s industrial heritage and aesthetic. It provides ample space and comfy seating for you and your guests to mingle and enjoy. It is the perfect indoor option should you be choosing an autumnal or winter wedding.

If a summer wedding is what you dream of, our reception area extends out on to the Southern courtyard and river gardens, o�ering more beautiful photo oppportunities and an alfresco drinks experience from our very own Horsebox bar.

THE GALLERY

THE COURTYARDOur south facing courtyard used to be the mill ‘race’ providing water power to the mill machines. Pristinely renovated with local sand stone your guests can enjoy drinks, photographs and throw some confetti under the Georgian facade.

Our grounds run along the banks of the River Derwent and provide a scenic backdrop for your wedding photography. There are endless photograph opportunities within our river garden, alonside the river and weir, fantastic shots from the toll bridge and in and around the heritage site.

THE GROUNDS

The Breakfast Room, is situated on the second �oor and with it’s low barrel arched ceiling provides an intimate setting for your wedding breakfast. Our dining �oor canaccommodate �exible table layouts and comfortably cater 50 to 160 of your family and friends.

Our award winning caterers cook all their food onsite using locally sourced ingredients where possible. Their �exible menu options mean you can enjoy the foods you love, cooked the way you want them.

THE BREAKFAST ROOM

Following the wedding breakfast, there’s no need for guests to wait whilst we turn the room around for the evening, instead guests can make their way straight to our dedicted party �oor, The Spinning Room on the �rst �oor.

Our beautifully reclaimed bar is fully sta�ed and stocked at local inn prices.

Whether you want a DJ or a band there is lots of roomfor them to set up and still have plenty of dance�oor space for dancing the night away .

If your guests need to rest their dancing feet, the Soho inspired room, provides plenty of comfortable seating for guests to sit back and enjoy drinks and evening food with family and friends.

THE SPINNING ROOM

The West Mill is a no corkage wedding venue meaning you can bring your own drinks for the daytime reception and wedding breakfast without a corkage charge. We want your day to be ‘your day’ so we don’t dictate what drinks you must have or who has to supply them. If that sounds like a lot to organise Darley Abbey Wines ,our local wine experts, can help design and supply your no corkage drinks at competitive prices.

NO CORKAGE WEDDING VENUE

At The West Mill you are free to pick and choose elements from suggested menus or work with our well respected caterers to design your own bespoke menu. Your wedding breakfast is cooked in our kitchens on site by our caterers who are fully committed to delivering outstanding food and service. All produce is sourced locally where possible.

THE MILL HOUSESituated just a stones throw from the West Mill Venue, Our Exclusive accommdation consists of eight en-suitedouble bedrooms (sleeping 16 adults & up to 5 children) all styled to our West Mill Venue signature style.

THE STORY SO FAR…The Grade II Listed Mill House was originally constructed in 1799 as the Mill Managers House. Sadly, the building hadnot been used since the 1970’s and was in need of majorrenovation.

Combining the Georgian architecture of the 1800’s house with the industrial style of The West Mill we havecarefully restored the building into a boutique house, to accommodate you and your guests on your wedding night.

HOUSE HIRE PRICINGThe Mill House is available for your wedding on an exclusive basis for the evening of your wedding withfurther dates being o�ered on request.

The Mill House Accommodation is hired as an entirehouse. Our hire fee includes all 8 en-suite doublebedrooms and breakfast.

It is then your choice as to who your guests will beand how you divide the total house hire price.

No Hidden Extras PolicyThe West Mill is a family run venue with a dedicated events and catering team to help create your perfect day. We have a clear pricing policy with ‘no hidden extras’ meaning that before making the booking, you will know exactly what your day will cost.

Exclusive-Use Wedding VenueThe venue hire price is the total price that you will pay for the exclusive use of The West Mill. Brie�y, this encompasses: The Dressing Room, The Cotton Quarter, The Breakfast Room, The Spinning Room, The Gallery, the gardens and onsite parking. We promise an exclusive use wedding, so from 11am on your wedding day the only people in the grounds of The West Mill are your guests and our wedding team.

The Mill House accomodationThe Mill House is available to you on the night of your wedding and is hired as a whole house. This includes eight beautiful ensuite double bedrooms and a cooked breakfast for a maximum sixteen adults and up to �ve additional children (under 12).

Fixed Venue Hire PricingWe believe in clear pricing. Our prices are �xed at the point of booking. You pay today’s price even if your booking is for a date two years in the future.

HOW TO BOOK THE WEST MILL VENUE AND MILL HOUSE

Step 1 Reserve your date at The West Mill and Mill House with no obligation.

Step 2 Your booking pack will be emailed to you. It contains your Con�rmation Booking Form; Venue Hire, Accommodation, Payment Details and our Terms and Conditions.

Step 3Contact Derby Registry O�ce or Church to check their availability.You can contact the registrars directly on 01332 641680 or email: customerservices@derby.gov.uk.

Step 4To secure your wedding date and (optional) stay in the Mill House on the night of your wedding, please complete and return your signed booking form along with your �rst instalments. Payments are due two weeks from when your booking pack is created. This �rst instalment combines 50% of the venue hire and £200 to secure the Mill House accommodation.

Step 5The Mill House balance is due the year before the your stay.

Step 6 Your �nal balance for the Venue Hire is due 8 weeks prior to your wedding day.

We will also be in contact to invite you for your Tasting Evening and Planning meeting which is when the fun really begins!

WHAT ABOUT THE CATERERS?Our catering partners, Jenkinsons, are automatically booked for you once you con�rm your booking with The West Mill. Jenkinson’s will be in contact to say hello within 10 days of The West Mill processing your �rst instalment. You will be invited to a Tasting Evening at The West Mill Venue 9 to 12 months before your wedding day, this is a great opportunity to try a range of dishes and see our catering team in action. Jenkinson’s prices are subject to change until an instalment is paid with them, this will be �nalised in your meeting which will take place within 12 months of your wedding day. Your �nal balance is due no later than 14 days prior to your wedding day.
