Outside School Hours Care
Excursion & Incursion
Directory
Excursions and Incursions are a unique opportunity for children to explore their world, adding to and building on knowledge gained in both formal learning situations and during their leisure time.
This Directory has been compiled with input from a number of Outside School Hours Care Services across New South Wales. Whilst every care has been taken to ensure the information and contact details are accurate, services are advised to double check the details themselves before making a booking.
This Directory is not all encompassing and we recognise that there are many more experiences that are suitable for excursions and incursions; however, our aim is to provide a starting point for you when you are planning your vacation care program.
This Directory will be upgraded periodically and we welcome your suggestions for additions to the listings.
Please remember that the Education and Care Services National Regulations requires you conduct a risk assessment before any excursion (Regulation 100) and that written authorisation must be provided before a child can be taken outside the premises on an excursion (Regulation 102).

Kids in Quarantine takes students on a walking adventure through the Quarantine Station. Students compare the past with the present as they adopt a persona of a first, second or third class passenger. Using these personas students begin at the wharf where they visit the steam ship cabins in our Visitor Centre, they then follow the route taken by passengers when quarantined. At each location students are involved in an activity that allows them to compare what life was like 100 years ago to today and are challenged to think about what they would like the world to be like tomorrow. Some of the site is accessible by wheelchair but not all of it. Disabled toilets are available but not all toilets onsite are wheelchair accessible. There is no provision for coaches to drive in, park, or turn around within Quarantine Station grounds. Coaches must drop students off at the round-about at the entrance.

The park is in St Peters, on the fringes of the city south. The open space is made of 40 hectares of lush grass, landscaped gardens, rolling hills, meandering pathways and picturesque wetlands. Creeks flow throughout the park and attract all different types of birds. There are plenty of spacious viewing decks that are perfectly placed to make sure you can take it all in as long as you like. A large children’s playground will probably have the grown-ups mesmerised just as much as the kids. The tactile, one-of-a-kind playground includes many different types of equipment that will keep children entertained for hours, as well as several elements that will stimulate their senses of touch, hearing and sight. The Sydney Park Cycling Centre is within the grounds, providing a space for children to learn about cycling and road safety.Parts of Sydney Park are accessible, such as the playground, some paths and toilets, but it does contain some steep hills. Cafés, bbq facilities and public toilets are also available in the park.

Since 2006, it has been the mission of the Touched by Olivia Foundation to help improve the health and happiness of Australian kids. One of our initiatives is firmly focused on creating a level playing field for children of different abilities. Livvi’s Place is a concept for inclusive playspaces, also known as all abilities playgrounds, that enable children and parents of all abilities and ages to play side-by side on the same equipment, ensuring full integration of children and families. It is the vision of Touched by Olivia Foundation that there will be a Livvi’s Place in every community. There are currently ten Livvi’s Places in New South Wales
