• Updated College of Arts & Sciences web page on HIREsooner.com that lists specific information for humanities and sciences majors

• Developed, publicized, and presented specialized job search workshops for A&S majors on various topics including Professional Dress, Interviewing, Dining Etiquette, and How to Find a Job in a Tough Economy

• Spoke to approximately 66 classes and student organizations / 1,960 students about Career Services

• Set up information tables in various buildings around campus as part of a new initiative, CAS Outreach Day, to raise awareness about Career Services

The Depatment of Aviation hosted its first career fair during the fall semester. The event hosted 18 employers and approximately 30 students attended (due to technical difficulties we were not able to capture an accurate number for the student attendees).

Aviation students also attended several other career fairs: the Sooner Showcase (largely geared toward business students), the College of Engineering Career Fair (geared toward technical students), and the 2017 Spring Career Fair (geared toward all students). Career Fair Attendance by Major

Typically Engineering students attend the Engineering Career Fair as well as the Spring Career Fair. The Engineering Career Fair is one of the largest career fairs on campus and is mostly geared toward technical majors. The Fall 2016 Engineering Career Fair hosted 150 employers (a 12.66% decrease to the previous year) and 2,018 students attended. The 2016 Spring Career Fair hosted 129 employers and 1,293 students attended. The Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering hosted its first career fair. Three companies and 25 students attended this inaugural event. The chart below shows the attendance broken down by major for the two largest career fairs.

Engineering students also attended the Sooner Showcase (519 engineering students), and the Atmospheric & Geographic Sciences Career and Internship Fair (2 engineering students).

The College of Architecture Career & Internship Fair hosted 32 companies (an increase of 14% from the previous year). Three companies conducted 20 interviews the day after the fair. Architecture students also attended the Sooner Showcase and the Spring Career Fair. Due to technical difficulties, data related to attendence by major was lost and unrecoverable.

The Construction Science Division hosted two career fairs as well. The fall event attracted 27 employers with 81 students attending, and 76 interviews were conducted by 12 companies. The spring event attracted 26 employers with 77 students attending, and 40 interviews were conducted by 7 companies.

Most Earth & Energy students attend the Engineering Career Fair which is one of the largest career fairs on campus and is mostly geared toward technical majors. The Fall 2016 Engineering Career Fair hosted 131 employers (a 12.67% decrease over the previous year) with 1977 students attending. Earth & Energy students also attended the 2016 Sooner Showcase and the 2017 Spring Career Fair. The Sooner Showcase, geared toward business majors, hosted 151 employers and 1832 students attended. On-Campus Interviews by MajorMany students participate in on-campus interviews. There were 11 on-campus interviews conducted with Fine Arts students (Art History [1], Drama [1], Music [6], & Music Education {3}) with 9 different companies (Apple Valley Unified School District, Bank SNB, Federal Reserve Bank of KC, Hollis & Miller Architects, Kimberly Clark, Southwestern Advantage, Spiers New Technology, Textron Aviation, & Unum).

In addition to on-campus interviews, 386 companies posted 846 jobs for Fine Arts majors on the Handshake job board.

Students reported hires from 12 different states (the remaining 7 states reported one hire each): Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.

• Met with Fine Arts students throughout each semester to help with job search, resume writing, interviewing skills, and other career-related issues

• Conducted numerous mock interviews with Fine Arts students to better prepare them for real interviews

• Surveyed all capstone classes, gathering post-graduation information from 143 graduating seniors

• Provided 9 class and/or college-wide presentations on resume writing, interview preparation, professional dress, and career-fair tips

• Met with Fine Arts Academic Advising Services to discuss Career Services, Handshake, etc.

• Attended incoming and outgoing student orientation sessions for each semester to establish relationships and/or reconnect with Fine Arts students

• Consistently updated bulletin boards and electronic media with information regarding career fairs, on-campus interviews, recruiting, career planning work-shops, and career & internship opportunities

• Posted jobs on Handshake (career management platform) and emailed students weekly about job openings as they became available

• Shared information about workshops, career fairs, full-time opportunities and internship opportunities with students via Handshake emails
