ON THE FLY: Technology Takes Off Extended through January 31! Explore aerodynamics and flight technology in the Fleet’s newest exhibition. Enjoy multiple daily performances by small-scale unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), complemented by interactive stations where you can create flying objects of your own and then test them out using wind tubes or a motorized airplane launcher. A digital media kiosk highlights current events involving unmanned flight technology and its uses. Hurry into the Fleet, and enjoy this exhibition before it takes off at the end of the month! The On the Fly exhibit and demonstration are made possible by Anonymous, Charles and Lisa Bergan, Beyster Family Foundation IV , Brain Corporation, General Atomics, Matt and Dawn Grob and Qualcomm Incorporated. JANUARY 6—Senior Monday lecture: Biologist Mario J. Mota will discuss �e Ecology and Conservation of Sea Turtles in conjunction with a screening of the IMAX® �lm Amazing Journeys. �e �rst Monday of the month, seniors 65+ enjoy the Science Center exhibits, a lecture and a Giant Dome �eater show at a discount! 10:30 a.m. lecture, doors open at 9:30 a.m., noon theater show. Seniors $8, adults $17.

JANUARY 8—�e Sky Tonight: Jewels of the Sky. Learn about the variety of colors and sizes, masses and groupings among the stars. A professional astronomer leads backyard stargazers through the universe. Weather and operational requirements permi�ing, the SD County Astronomy Association provides free telescope viewing outdoors. Note: �e Sky Tonight normally takes place on the �rst Wednesday of the month. 7 p.m. & 8:15 p.m.

JANUARY 9—FEBRUARY 2—Young Scientists. Kid Chemistry will experiment with Solids, Liquid, Gases, Oh My!; Acids and Bases; Mixtures and Solutions; and Radical Reactions. Preschoolers ages 3–5 (and a parent) explore the scienti�c wonders of the world through experimentation, investigation and scienti�c questioning. Four 4-week sessions run monthly. �ursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning. 9 a.m.–10:30 a.m. Members $75, nonmembers $85.

JANUARY 11—Saturday Science Club for Girls: �e Science of Sound. Take a closer look at the science behind your favorite instruments and even design your own noisemaker to take home. Girls in grades 5–8 can join the Fleet on the second Saturday of each month to investigate exciting science topics. Noon–2 p.m.; members $12, nonmembers $14; must pre-register by calling (619) 238-1233 ext. 806.

JANUARY 13—Suds & Science. Fossil fuel is running out. Gas and food prices are rising. Can pond scum save the world? Grab a pint and hear Dr. Stephen May�eld reveal San Diego’s unusual solution to the fossil fuel shortage. Suds & Science is a bimonthly event that brings scientists

See the Stones: Bigger and louder than ever before! Shot on location in Turin, Berlin and London, Rolling Stones at the MAX features the band performing classics like “Satisfaction” and “Brown Sugar,” as well as “Rock & A Hard Place” and “Start Me Up.” �is is a 90-minute concert �lm.
