Welcome Message

“The largest business opportunity in heating and cooling industry in Japan!”The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) is slated to hold the 40th Heating, Ventilating, Air-conditioning and Refrigerating Expo (HVAC&R JAPAN 2018) over the four-day period of Tuesday, February 27 to Friday, March 2, 2018 at Makuhari Messe, Japan.

HVAC&R JAPAN has played a critically important role as Japan's only specialized trade fair in the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry over the past half-century, providing public relations opportunities for the industry as well as a venue for presentation of corporate technology developments and new products since the former "National Refrigeration Equipment Expo" was first held in 1956. This time marks the 40th anniversary. During this period, Japan's heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment industry has become one of the world's technological leaders in the field, particularly in regards to its highly efficient heat pump technology. In addition to contributing to modernization and greater sophistication across industries, our technologies have become the indispensable foundational technologies for a wide range of fields: specifically, they have contributed to realizing comfortable living environments, and enabled communications equipment and production equipment performance retention. In this way we have made crucial contributions to society.

In recent years, we are facing much more difficult challenges to solve for global environment conservation in Japan and abroad, since the revised Building Energy Efficiency Act will come into force in April, 2017 and the 28th Meeting of the Parties (MOP28) to the Montreal Protocol led to an agreement in substance on the phase-down of HFC production and consumption. Under the circumstances, we have continued to make active efforts to dramatically boost efficiency of heat pump technology as well as to develop and popularize environment-friendly equipment. The efficient use of energy is a critically important issue both for developed and developing countries. Japan's cutting-edge energy-saving technologies and cooling technologies play a major role in the resolution of these issues. In this connection, to popularize these technologies and earn even greater trust from consumers and users, we have made product safety an ongoing priority.

The venue of HVAC&R JAPAN 2018 will be changed from Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) to Makuhari Messe. We would like all the people involved in the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry including those who have not visited HVAC&R JAPAN before to visit this expo. For this reason, we chose "The largest business opportunity in heating and cooling industry in Japan!" as the theme for the event with the message of “Let’s visit Makuhari Messe!”

Our event theme is all about doing our part to create an environment-friendly society through the development of energy management technologies including: cutting-edge new cooling technologies, energy-saving technologies, ZEB/ZEH, and energy management system technologies used in BEMS/HEMS, etc. In this connection, we consider it our mission to exhibit world-leading latest equipment and systems in one place and introduce the activities of JRAIA. HVAC&R JAPAN features multiple events at once, offering special lectures by notable figures (TBD), various kinds of seminars and information on new products and trends provided by exhibitors. HVAC&R JAPAN is designed to facilitate business opportunities for exhibitor companies and to provide a place for exhibitors to disseminate their cutting-edge information to the world.

HVAC&R JAPAN, held once every two years, provides a venue for exhibitors to showcase and promote their latest technologies, products, and systems, and for visitors and exhibitors to engage in productive business discussions. We hope that everyone will take advantage of this rare business opportunity.

For the Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association, HVAC&R JAPAN 2018 represents our passion for the industry and our way of conveying it to the world. Our goal is to create an ever-better heating, cooling, ventilating, and refrigeration environment and to continue to reach as many people as possible, as well as to facilitate the ongoing development of our association and affiliated organizations. We would like you to understand our goal and to actively participate in the exhibition. Your tremendous support will be greatly appreciated.
