“My Planet, My Future - MPMF: Space for Sustainability” is a walk-through exhibition to create awareness

about the significance of Space Science & Technology to serve the UN 2030 Agenda.

It showcases to the global community the real life examples through case studies and demonstrates the SDG progress, achievements and potentials using visuals, graphics, live models and audio visual displays.

Building on MPMF2018 at UNHQ-NY,Created by UNOOSA and CANEUS with Support from EC and DLR

The first edition of the historic and successful MPMF Exhibition was created and organized by CANEUS and UNOOSA, with support from the European Commission and German Aerospace Centre-DLR, and was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York for two months, from 10th July to 5th

September 2018, to coincide with UN High Level Political Forum 2018.

The exhibit showcased actual case studies from around the world contributed by leading Space Agencies and stakeholders focused on SDGs 6, 7, 11, 12 15 and 17.

MPMF at UNHQ Gallery was viewed and struck a chord with over

200,000+ visitors,including diplomats and ministers representing 190+ countries, business leaders, NGOs, funding agencies that are part of the

Global Compact and space enthusiasts.

The United Nations has a long history in promoting greater international collaboration in outer space as well as the use of space technologies for sustainable development. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest from Member States to use space applications for sustainable development, especially to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this context, the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) selected the topic of “Exploring space technologies for sustainable development and the benefits of international research collaboration in this context” as one of its priority themes for its twenty-third session in 2020.

The MPMF Exhibition content builds on to the contributions by UN Member States and Stakeholders to the UNCTAD draft issues paper for CSTD 2020 which highlights the potential opportunities of space-enabled technologies for delivering on the SDGs, comprising six main application sectors:

1. Food security and agriculture2. Health applications3. Access to telecommunications4. Disaster risk reduction and humanitarian crises5. Natural resource and environment management6. Transport and Energy

Additionally, all entrants into Building E, including those attending other meetings, those visiting Serpent Bar, and people taking tours throughout the Palais and visiting the UN bookshop, will have to pass through this space.

Thus, the exhibit offers partners a unique opportunity with high visibility amongst participants at CSTD2020 as well the wider community at the United Nations in Geneva.Partners are further offered to leverage the MPMF2030 exhibit contents with those contributed by UN Member States and Stakeholders to the UNCTAD draft issues paper as well the CSTD 2020 Session agenda.
