CCSAFS Project:
Developing an MSc Programme in Climate Change, Sustainable
Agriculture and Food Security.
The objectives of the project is to respond to the needs identified

through the development of an inter/multidisciplinary MSc
programme in Climate Change, Agricultural Development and Food
Security that will help promote the Sustainable Development Goals,
by providing students with the skills and tools for developing
agricultural practices, policies and measures to address the
challenge that climate change poses for agriculture and food
security in the two target countries and in the MENA region

Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (CCSAFS).
1. Introduction: The 6th Global Conference on Renewables and Energy Efficiency for Desert Regions (GCREEDER
2018) kicked-off on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 at the University of Jordan (UJ) under the patronage of
His Royal Highness Prince Hamzah bin Al Hussein.
The Conference, which witnessed the participation of local and international energy experts and
academics, was organized by the Department of Mechanical
HRH Engineering at the School of Engineering.
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Dr. Saleh Al-
Kharabsheh, Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources;
Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, UJ President; and Prof. Abeer Al-Bawab,
General Director of the Scientific Research Support Fund (SRSF),
Prof. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh- Chairman of the Organizing
Committee.
Born on the 29th of March 1980,
His Royal Highness Prince Hamzah
bin Al Hussein is the 41st
generation direct descendent of the
Prophet Mohammad (peace be
upon him). His Majesty King
Abdullah II officially named him as
Crown Prince of the Hashemite
Kingdom of Jordan on 7th of
February 1999 until 28th of
November 2004.
Prince Hamzah received his elementary education in Jordan
and then attended Harrow School in England. He then joined the
Royal Military Academy at
Sandhurst, passing out as a commissioned officer in the Jordan
Arab Army in December 1999, with a number of prizes including the
Sandhurst Overseas
The 3-day event focused on the applications and technologies of
renewable energy for desert regions, and will devote a number of
sessions to address investment in renewables, and renewable
energy regulations and policies.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee Prof. Ahmad Al-
Salaymeh, said that the conference, which follows five successful
conferences in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016, included 34
sessions and 105 addresses.
According to Al-Salaymeh, over 100 papers have been submitted
for inclusion in the conference from Algeria, Palestine, Saudi
Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Tunisia, Kuwait, Egypt, USA,
Germany, Britain, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Austria, Bangladesh,
India, Spain, Malaysia, Portugal, Lebanon, Oman, in addition to
Jordan.
The Conference included themes such as energy resources,
applications and technologies of renewable energy, grid
connected renewable energy systems, environmental aspects of
energy systems, climate change, fuel cells and others.
2. CCSAFS Dissemination During GCREEDER 2018:
2.1 GCREEDER Exhibition -CCSAFS Booth:
CCSAFS Jo-Partners had the opportunity to disseminate information about CCSAFS project,
through GCREEDER 2018- EU Projects dedicated booths.
The Conference’s exhibition was honored to be patronized and opened by HRH Prince Hamzah
bin Al-Hussein. He graciously took time to visit the Erasmus+ projects booths (Including CCSAFS).

2.2 CCSAFS Dissemination Lecture- Session for EU Funded Projects:
Under the patronage of the Director National Erasmus+ Office-Jordan, Prof. Ahmed Abu El-Haija; a dissemination session for Erasmus+ Funded projects was conducted in conference’s day two.
The session was started by welcoming speech from Prof. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh-Erasmus+
Projects Coordinator at UJ, extended his grateful and thankful for the audience’s time and
interest. Followed by a presentation on “EU Funded Projects and Their Impact on
Higher Education in Jordan” delivered by Prof. Ahmed Abu El-Haija.
The session was attended by representatives of all Jordanian partner universities; UJ,
JUST, JU and MUTAH, in addition to the invited guests, students, academic staff and
stakeholders.

2.2.1 Brief Presentation about CCSAFS project
A brief presentation about CCSAFS project; it's wider and specific objectives, consortium,
expected results and impacts as well as the project's phases was given by Prof. Kamel Sultan-
Jerash University, highlighting the “Need for graduate programs in Climate Change in MENA
region “as well as the structure of the M.Sc. at Jerash University.
