    Philosophy or Religion?

    Combination

    Part philosophy, part religion

    Philosophy: Existentialism

    Religion: Taoism/Buddhism

In order to improve the mind, we ought less to learn, than to contemplate.

    -Ren Descartes

    Contemplation is key

    Something beyond this life

    Universal force

    General Thoughts

    Belief system is purely personal

    Insight into the human race

    deemed important (philosophy)

    Connection to all things/beings

    Always something more

    Constant questioning

    Imagination/human creativity is

    unlimited and infinitely powerful

Life force or Pulse also important

    Iam not a logician.

    Iam an existentialist.

Ibelieve in this meaningless, beautiful chaos of existence andIam ready to go with it wherever it leads.

    -Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh

    The Imagination

    Most important aspect

    All things are real

Imagination is limitless Power of the mind limitless

    Use the mind/imagination to

    dispel attachments/materialism

    The mind confirms our

    existence

We are what we imagine ourselves to be.

    -Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

    Imagination Cont.

    Mind conceives before objects

become existent Therefore, mind more powerful than

    body

    Much time spent on development

    of artistic skill

Art has many insights on life/humanity

    Artists/fictional characters seen as

    important figures, such as

    Shakespeare, Buckethead, or Willy Wonka

People think thatImust be a very strange person. This is not correct. I

have the heart of a small boy. It is in a glass jar on my desk.

    -Stephen King

    Accentuation

    Humanity embraced fully

    Emotions deemed most human concept

    Art/literature can accentuate emotions and

    our sense of existence

    Intensification of existence causes

    a better/truer outlook No emotions bad/all accepted

There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, but untilwe have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the

    experience of the soul.

    The Pulse

    Universal life force

    Connects and binds all

    living/nonliving things

    Responsible for creativity

Can be compared to the Tao/Brahman

Caretaker for all existence Non-judgmental; simply a Watchman

Life and death are one thread, the same line viewed fromdifferent sides.

    -Lao Tzu

    False Duality

    Borrows largely from Taoism

    No black/white, good/evil

    No constants

    Light gives birth to dark

    Opposites create one another

    Duality causes disillusionment

    No inherent evil

We cling to our point of view, as though everything depended on it. Yet

our opinions have no permanence; like autumn and winter, they gradually

    pass away.

    -Chuang Tzu

    Morals

    No strict code or laws

    Two simple ethic guidelines

    Teach by example

    No interference

    Nature

    Pursuit of balance and meaning

Morality is of the highest importance but for us, not for God.
