production/distribution company. It’s headquarters is in Hollywood, California, United states and is also a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) - American trade association that represents the six biggest Hollywood studios. Paramount pictures is the fifth oldest surviving film studio behind, universal studios, Nordisk Film, Pathé, and Gaumont Film Company.

- Parmount pictures don’t make films based on a specific genre. They are a member of the Motion Picture Association of America as they produce and distribute the biggest and best films from different genres, they do this so that they make the biggest profit possible.

PRODUCERS AND DISTRIBUTERS Lionsgate Entertainment Corporation- Lionsgate is a North American entertainment company. This

company was formed in Vancouver, British Columbia on July 3, 1997. The headquarters of Lionsgate is in Santa Monica, California. Since 2012, Lionsgate are the most commercially successful independent film and television distribution company in North America.

- Lionsgate are also the seventh most profitable film studio in North America.

- Lionsgate also don't specify in any genre, they distribute a lot of different genres and films, such as the ‘Texas Chainsaw 3S’ ‘The Expendables 3’ and ‘The Hunger Games’. All very different films and different genres.

- To increase their profit, Lionsgate also professionalise in music and music publishing.

PRODUCERS AND DISTRIBUTERS Universal pictures- Universal studios Inc. (know as universal pictures) is an

American motion picture studio, owned by Comcast through its wholly owned subsidiary NBCUniversal.

- Lionsgate is also one of the six major movie studios (the Motion Picture Association of America) along with paramount pictures. Its production studios are at 100 Universal City Plaza Drive in Universal City, California. Distribution and other offices are in New York City.

- Universal pictures was founded in 1912, April 30th and is the oldest movie studio in the United States of America. It is also the fourth oldest in the world that is still in production.

- Universal pictures most profitable films are Jaws (1975), E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Jurassic Park (1993), and Despicable Me 2 (2013) and as you can see, these are different genres so universal pictures also produce and distribute a variety of films and film genres.

EVALUATION My film institution- The institution I will most likely use will be out of the three I

have evaluated. - I could choose any three of these as Paramount pictures and

Universal pictures are both members of the Motion Picture Association of America, so they are both very big producers and distributers and very well known. However I could also choose Lionsgate as they are the most commercially successful independent film and television distribution company in North America. And they are also very well known.

- To make the decision of which company to choose, I would look at which company is most familiar which my genre and how popular the films are which they have produced and distributed and the profits made.
