Board Game Auction Turn Your Old, Unwanted Games Into New!Here Be Books & Games celebrates 12 years in business with a Board Game Auction at our August Game Night!

Turn your old games into new! We’ll auction o your old games and give you the proceeds in store credit (less $1 per game/lot) so you can buy new games. You can spend your store credit however you want: on games we have in stock, special orders, preor-ders, books, RPGs - whatever we sell.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the game auction, both as a seller and as a buyer. As a seller, it’s a chance to turn games you don’t play anymore into new games you really want. As a buyer, it’s a chance to get

some great deals or add rare games to your collection. Here Be Books & Games will also be contributing some great games to the auction, so there should be no shortage of things to buy!

DetailsOn Saturday, August 5, between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm, bring your games to Here Be Books & Games. We'll have you ll out a form, indicating the reserve price (the lowest you’re willing to sell each game or game bundle for), plus any notes about condition, expansions or extras we should mention during the auction. You can download the form from our web site and ll it out ahead of time to speed up the process. If you like, you can bundle several games together as a single lot to make it more attractive to buyers! We recommend you do this for small games.

We’ll put the games on display until the auction starts at 7:00 pm. e auction itself will run until 9:00 pm, after which Game Night festivities will resume as normal.

Payments for any games purchased will be made to Here Be Books & Games, and sellers will receive their proceeds in store credit (less $1 per game or lot sold). Store credit is not the same as trade credit: you can use store credit like a gift certicate. Also, if you want an in-print game or accessory that’s not in stock, we’ll order it for you.

So, join us Saturday, August 5th for this truly exciting Board Game Auction event and help us celebrate 12 years in business!

In The Year of the Dragon: 10th Anniversary EditionIn the game, In the Year of the Dragon, designed by Stefan Feld, each player takes on the role of a Chinese prince, seeking to maximize the prosperity and prestige of his province in the ancient China of approximately 1,000 A.D.

To assist in these endeavors, the princes must call upon the diverse talents of their courtiers, from scholars and monks to warriors and craftsmen. ese loyal subjects will lend their expertise to the struggle to shield their rulers from the often disastrous consequences of the myriad untoward events that plague the populace from month to month.

Be it drought, contagion or Mongol invasion, only foresight and planning will spare the princes and their subjects from these fates. e better a player can manage his province and withstand the seemingly unending onslaught of hazardous events, the more honor and victory points he will have to show for it in the end.

In the Year of the Dragon: 10th Anniversary Edition includes In the Year of the Dragon base game plus the e Great Wall of China and e Super Events expansions that rst appeared in the alea Treasure Chest.

2 to 5 can play In the Year of the Dragon: 10th Anniversary Edition in 75 to 100 minutes. Best for ages 12 and up.

Kraftwagen: V6 EditionIn Kraftwagen: V6 Edition, players advance the state of automobile development and production by playing as start-up companies. ey must research new technologies and build improved chassis and engines. Early Grand Prix races provide the young companies with prestige and money, but players must balance fullling the demand preferences of buyers with the lowest possible price.

Kraftwagen: V6 Edition includes the V6 Expansion, a new set of tiles, featuring the next technology available at the time, the V6 Engine.

Stronghold Games: Great Designer Series #3, it supports 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up. Plays in 75 minutes.

Notre Dame: 10th Anniversary EditionIn Notre Dame, designer Stefan Feld artfully combines card drafting and area inuence to make an excellent tactical and strategic game set in the shadow of the Notre Dame cathedral.

Players take on the roles of the heads of inuential families in Paris at the end of the 14th century. Each family controls one

of the 3 -5 boroughs that surround the site of Notre Dame. As head of his family, each player tries, through clever use of his action cards, to advance the power and prestige of his family, but penalties are assessed those who do not take care of the health of the people who live in their borough. e player with the most prestige at the end is the winner.

Notre Dame 10th Anniversary Edition includes the Notre Dame base game, New Persons I & II expansions, plus e Trading Routes expansion for Castles of Burgundy.

Notre Dame has earned many honors, including: 2007 Spiel des Jahres Recommended, 2007 Deutscher Spiele Preis Best Family/Adult Game 2nd Place, and several Golden Geek and other nominations. It supports 2 to 5 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 45 to 75 minutes.

Potion ExplosionPotion Explosion - A game of potion-crafting and marble-crashing for 2 to 4 Sorcery students. is game is incredibly fun!

It's senior year at Horribi-lorum Sorcery Academy for Witty Witches and Wizards. All the hard work and studying comes down to this: the nal exams! Under the helpful tutelage of the Headmaster, you’ve learned how to handle volatile ingredients, represented by colorful marbles, and turn them into fantastical potions!

When you pull ingredients out of the potion dispenser, higher up ingredients slide down to ll the gap. You want to try to make the same ingredients smash together - literally - causing explosions and big turn combinations. e more Explosions you trigger on a turn, the more

We’re Moving! [continued from page 1]

Where we're moving, we don't know exactly yet - most likely within 10 miles of where we are now. We're looking in Summerville, Goose Creek, Ladson and this end of North Charleston. We need:

• At least 1200 square feet, but would prefer 2000+. • Plenty of space for parking to accommodate Game

Night, Book Sales and gaming events.• Better visibility.• Closer access to the freeway would be a plus.• I'd like a kitchenette.

If you know of something or see something, please let us know. We’d prefer to buy, rather than be at the mercy of a landlord again.

In the meantime, we need to raise some money and debulk. Moving is expensive. While we've been saving since we heard the shopping center had been bought, it's not enough. Packing and moving 30,000 books and our assorted games is a daunting task - overwhelming if you ask me. Not to mention, we'll also have to build new shelves, paint, and otherwise prepare our new place - wherever it will be.

How Can You Help?• Buy more books and

games from us now!• Take advantage of our

upcoming sales.• Participate in our Game

Auction.• Sign up for text messages, phone calls, and/or

emails, so we can notify you of our upcoming sales, game auction, and new location.

We're going through our books now, have already put some on sale, and will continue to add more as we go through each section. Watch for in-store signs, our web site and Facebook page details as they become available.

Plans to host a Board Game Auction at our August Game Night are in progress. I know we have many games in our Game Library that are no longer in print, so there's really no reason for us to keep them. But that's just the seed. You can bring games you don't want any more and we'll auction them o, too, then give you the proceeds, less a $1, in store credit. en you can buy new games. See the article on page 1 for details.

We appreciate your help and support, whatever form it takes, and look forward to many more years in business.

New Arrivals!Sooo many new games have arrived in the last few weeks! Plus, we signed on with a new distributor who carries games we've long wanted to stock - games not carried by our primary distributors - which added even more games to the new arrival list. Here's a quick run-down of our new oerings. All are in stock now! I've listed them alphabetically - I couldn't think of a better way to do it.

= Demo Available. We can teach you how to play!

Agents of SMERSH: 2nd EditionAgents of SMERSH is a coop-erative storytelling adventure board game set in the Cold War era with over 1600 written encounters! You play U.N. Secret Service Spies pitted against the newly formed and independent SMERSH,

headed by diabolical Dr. Lobo.

You and your companions will travel the world attempt-ing to thwart the plans of Dr. Lobo and his minions. ere are plenty of gadgets, guns, cars, and humorous references to James Bond.

e storytelling aspect of Agents of SMERSH is similar to Tales of Arabian Nights and Above and Below in that you read encounters from the nearly 300-page Book of Encounters. What I really like about Agents of SMERSH is that your particular skills actually seem to apply to the problem at hand. In Arabian Nights it seems random.

You may remember us having this in stock a few years ago. We had acquired a few directly from the publisher while attending Atlanta Game Fest. I'm so happy we're able to oer it again.

Agents of SMERSH supports 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up and plays in 90 to 120 mintues.

Century: Spice RoadIf you like Splendor, you should love Century: Spice Road. Game play is simple, straightforward and easy to learn. Your goal is to acquire and trade for particular sets of spices to complete orders, which are worth victory points. Some orders even award you gold or silver worth three or one additional point respectively.

For a more complete description, read Tina’s Century: Spice Road game review in last month’s newsletter or on e Glass Meeple (eGlassMeeple.com). Century: Spice Road supports 2 to 5 players ages 8 and up and plays in 30 to 45 minutes.

Dresden Files: Coop-erative Card Gamee Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game - Play Harry Dresden and his friends as they take on the cases from the bestselling Dresden Files novels in a what-if scenario: what if Harry was on the scene with allies who weren’t there in the books?

e core game includes Harry, Murphy, Susan, Michael, and the Alphas and plays through the rst ve novels as well as Side Jobs, a random scenario generator based on the short story collection of the same name.

Use your shared pool of action points called Fate points to take actions or generate more Fate points for the group. Solve more cases than there are foes remaining on the board to win!

Make your stand against the darkness - together! e Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game supports 1 to 5 players, ages 13 and up, and plays in 30 minutes.

Escape Room GamesEscape Rooms are puzzle adventures you need to solve in a specic amount of time - usually an hour or two. With the new EXIT and UNLOCK! series of games, you can have an Escape Room experience at home! Most can be played solo or by up to six players.

We recently got the rst three adventures of the EXIT and UNLOCK! series in stock. Both series of adventure games are one-time plays. e EXIT series uses decoder wheels, while the UNLOCK! series relies on an app you'll have to download before you can play. e app is free. You don't have to be connected to the Internet when you play, just have the app installed.

e EXIT games are destructible, the UNLOCK! are not, so you can pass them on to someone else when you're done. All of the escape-rooms-in-a-box are quite inexpen-sive - about the cost of one movie ticket, two if you go to a bargain matinee.

Which one do you want to play first?EXIT: e Game - e Abandoned Cabin - Your car

breaks down in the middle of nowhere and you're looking for shelter to get through the night. Luckily, you nd an abandoned cabin in the woods near the road. You enter thankfully and spend an uneventful night. e next morning, however, when you try to leave, you discover the door is locked! Iron bars on

the windows prevent you from escaping. Searching the cabin for some means of exit, you discover a book and a strange disk...

EXIT: e Game - e Pharaoh's Tomb e hilight of your vacation to Egypt is the excursion to the Valley of the Kings! Unfortunately, while crawling through the narrow passageways, you lose touch with the rest of your tour group. As you enter a mysterious burial chamber, a massive stone door closes behind you. On the oor lies a dusty notebook and an ancient disk...

EXIT: e Game - e Secret Lab You volunteer for a medical research study and report to a lab as instructed. But when you arrive, no one is there except you! You notice vapor rising from a test tube and start to feel dizzy. When you wake up, the door is locked and you discover a notebook and a strange disk...

UNLOCK! Escape Adventures: e Formula - Enter a scientist's secret lab to recover a mysterious serum. Diculty Level: 2 of 3.

UNLOCK! Escape Adventures: Squeek & Sausage - wart the plans of th despicable Professor Noside in this cartoon-style adven-ture! Diculty Level: 2 of 3.

UNLOCK! Escape Adventures: e Island of Doctor Goorse - Visit the island of an eccentric antique collector billionaire and overcome its traps! Diculty Level: 3 of 3.

Puzzling challenges await, whichever Escape Room adventure you choose!

Stronghold Games: Great Designer Series #3, it supports 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up. Plays in 75 minutes.

of the 3 -5 boroughs that surround the site of Notre Dame.

Agents of SMERSH supports 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up and plays in 90 to 120 mintues.

e EXIT games are destructible, the UNLOCK! are not, so you can pass them on to someone else when you're done. All of the escape-rooms-in-a-box are quite inexpen-sive - about the cost of one movie ticket, two if you go to a bargain matinee.

We’re MovingLast November, an investment group

bought this shopping center. ey're building a Lowe's Grocery Store

I've listed them alphabetically - I couldn't think of a better way to do it.

e storytelling aspect of Agents of SMERSH is similar to Tales of Arabian Nights and Above and Below in that you read encounters from the nearly 300-page Book of Encounters. e EXIT games are destructible, the UNLOCK! are not, so you can pass them on to someone else when you're done. All of the escape-rooms-in-a-box are quite inexpen-sive - about the cost of one movie ticket, two if you go to a bargain matinee.

Issue 52 Here Be Books & Games News July 2017

We’re MovingLast November, an investment group

bought this shopping center. ey're building a Lowe's Grocery Store

over by the Post Oce and doing other renovations as well. We've been told to expect our

While the Lowe's Grocery Store may

increase trac through our parking lot, it won't improve our visibility, nor will it give us any more space. So, we're moving.... [continued on Page 3 - We’re Moving!]

Issue 52 Here Be Books & Games News July 2017

We’re MovingLast November, an investment group

bought this shopping center. ey're building a Lowe's Grocery Store

over by the Post Oce and doing other renovations as well. We've been told to expect our

rent to more than triple, assuming they renovate our building rather than demolish it and put in a big chain store. ere are plans for the latter online. If we have to pay more rent, we'd prefer to get some benet for it: more space, better visibility, increased trac. While the Lowe's Grocery Store may

increase trac through our parking lot, it won't improve our visibility, nor will it give us any more space. So, we're moving.... [continued on Page 3 - We’re Moving!]

Kraftwagen: V6 EditionIn Kraftwagen: V6 Edition, players advance the state of automobile development and production by playing as start-up companies. ey must research new technologies and build improved chassis and engines. Early Grand Prix races provide the young companies with prestige and money, but players must balance fullling the demand preferences of buyers with the lowest possible price.

of the 3 -5 boroughs that surround the site of Notre Dame.

Issue 52 Here Be Books & Games News July 2017

We’re MovingLast November, an investment group

bought this shopping center. ey're building a Lowe's Grocery Store

While the Lowe's Grocery Store may

increase trac through our parking lot, it won't improve our visibility, nor will it give us any more space. So, we're moving.... [continued on Page 3 - We’re Moving!]

It's senior year at Horribi-lorum Sorcery Academy for Witty Witches and Wizards. All the hard work and studying comes down to this: the nal exams!

Agents of SMERSH supports 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up and plays in 90 to 120 mintues.

e EXIT games are destructible, the UNLOCK! are not, so you can pass them on to someone else when you're done. All of the escape-rooms-in-a-box are quite inexpen-sive - about the cost of one movie ticket, two if you go to a bargain matinee.
